We have the same problem on our washer - same model as yours. Home Depot has the warranty on this thank goodness we bought it. They replaced the motor and water pump - didn't fix the problem longer than a month. A new repairman has come out and says we need a new heater and thermistor (whatever that is - I checked - not a thermostat but possibly related??) Approx a $300 fix. Good luck.
Yes, this unit does need a heater and thermistor to fix the proble. just worked on one today. scratched my head for a good long time. but that is for sure the problem for the Upside down F E code.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't normally buy the extended warranties and didn't on this. We had the service guy come out and he immediately diagnosed as a thermistor. Had to practically disassemble the whole unit to get to it. $245 for parts and labor.
