My Eclipse 180 SL (4GB) MP3 player stopped playing in the middle of a sound file voice recording of a novel I have been "reading." Also, neither of my computers will recognize it any more.

I had the same problem. I think most files that itunes uses are in a .m4a format. The eclipse mp3 player will need all the music files in an .mp3 format. The eclipse actually has a "software" folder that includes the "replay converter" that will convert these files for you - or you can download any number of freeware that will convert the files as well. Once I converted those files, my eclipse played everything. Prior to that - even though I had synced everything with my Windows Media player, I was getting the "No Files" message. Good Luck!

I just bought an eclipse mp3 player and it was working fine then i was listening to music and it just shut off then it turned back on but its just frozen and says eclipse
This is a case where this should go back to the store, one option to try is all MP3 players have a reset switch somewhere on the chassis, a safety pin is bigger enough to slip in. When found press and hold for 60 seconds, If this fails take it back because there is nothing more that can be done.

All mp3 players usually have a tiny button to reset the player. It should be somewhere on the chassis. Stick a safety pin in it and hold for about 20 seconds which is the usual time. I usually hold it for about a minute just to be sure. But another way is to just turn it on and go to settings and reset back to factory settings. But the problem could be either the headphones you are using not plugged in all the way in the socket or the song itself is corrupted. Check the settings of the equalizer if it has one. Also, in the future it would be easier to answer your question if you gave full details on the make and model and history of the product.

I have 2 Eclipse CLD MP3 players and I cannot get the volume to change from 18 on either of them
you just need to hit the "VOL" button once, which will light up the # of the volume setting (18 is factory set). then you toggle the left or right arrows to either decrease or increase the volume # to the desired setting. i think the highest is 32.
