The natural log of 10E4 is about 11.51. The natural log of 1E4 is about 9.21.
Do you want the log of 10 to the fourth (ten thousand) or of 10 to the fifth (one hundred thousand)? What keys are you pressing to enter the argument? If you press 1 0 2ND EE 4 then you're inputting ten times ten to the fourth or ten to the fifth. If you want ten to the fourth, enter it as 1 2ND EE 4 .

Press MODE to bring up the mode screen. Use the arrow keys to highlight "FLOAT" on the second line and press ENTER. Press 2ND [QUIT] to exit the mode screen.
