SOURCE: RESTORING FACTORY CONTENTS.

That is because someone has either removed, formatted or overwritten the partition on which the recovery software was stored. You'll need to find CDs of the software you want, starting with the OS, and install that way.

SOURCE: Can't connect to the internet after running Rescue and Recovery

It seems you have a static ip address. Check the ipaddress by clicking - start -run - type cmd hit enter. on the black screen - type ipconfig and enter. If the ipaddress shows ipaddress e.g 169.10.14.12 . its is static ipadress. Do ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew.If u are getting new ipaddress. Ping www.google.com and check if you are able to ping. You should be able to connect to internet. If not then reset the Internet router if you have one or shut down the computer.Disconnect internet cable .If u have modem, turn it off.Wait for 10 second. Connect internet cable.Restart the system and check. If issue persist contact ISP. Good luck.

SOURCE: My Lenovo ideapad z565 with Windows 7 does not

For you to perform One Key Recovery, it is done by pressing the OKR button next to power button when the computer is off..(OKR or One key recovery is a very small button usually next/ near the power button that has an inverted U-shaped arrow and usually, some models, the color is orange button)..Select "One key recovery" from the options and next, select "Restore from Initial Back up" after that, you may select "start" to perform OKR..
Just in case OKR button is no longer working, you may ask for the recovery CD's from lenovo to manually install windows.

I tried to use the ctrl f11 to reformat my drive and it does not work

Hi,

Ctrl + F11 works with DELL desktop/laptops with XP operating system to restore computer to factory settings, that too if your recovery partition is intact. So, If you have the same configuration and you are pressing "ctrl + f11" correctly on the dell logo when it comes in the begening, It should work.

If its not then your recovery partition might be damaged and you need a windows disk to repair/reinstall windows.

Otherwise, if you are using any other operating system like "windows vista" or "7", follow the below process.

Power off the laptop. Remove any peripheral devices such as speakers, printers or flash drives that are not necessary to this operation. Connect your laptop to power/adapter.

Very Important: Please make sure you have backed up all important data because restoring your device to factory settings will result in loss of all data and software, Though all software that came preinstalled with the computer will come back.

1. Backup your important data in external hard-drive or flash drive.
2. Shut down the computer.
3. Turn the PC back on and hit the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Option Screen appears.
4. Click "Repair Your Computer" if you are not already on it and then press ENTER
5. Choose your keyboard & language options and click OK
6. On the "System Recovery Options Screen" click "Complete PC restore" which is probably the second last option.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions
8. When prompted, click on "Full Factory Recovery"
9. Click "Next"
10. Click "Yes"
11. You may notice for a while it seems like nothing is happening, give it some time.
12. After some minutes, recovery will complete and you click "Finish".

13. Computer will restart and it will boot to desktop just fine. It might ask you to configure some settings as this is equivalent to starting a new computer.
Cheers.!!!

Passwords have me locked out

Your Computer is shipped with the Recovery partition, a hidden partition in the Computer. You can use the Recovery partition to reinstall the preinstalled Operating System, Applications and the Drivers. Please note that performing a System Recovery will delete all the data from the Computer and restores the Computer back to the factory settings. However, you can backup the important data using the Rescue Data feature available in the Recovery Center (Recovery partition). Let me provide the complete details to backup the data and to perform the System Recovery.

  • Please restart the Computer and press the F10 when the VAIO logo appears to access the Recovery Center.
  • Please select Rescue Data option to backup the important data.
  • You can save all the data present in the C Drive by selecting Automatic Rescue Data option and you can backup the individual data or folder be selecting Custom Rescue Date option.
  • You can copy data from the hard disk to an external hard drive, external flash media drive, recordable Blu-ray Disc, DVD or CD.
  • Once the Rescue Data option is done, please select Restore C Drive option in the Recovery Center to restore the Computer back to the factory settings.
  • This should resolve the issue.
  • You can view the steps mentioned in link below
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C473668

Please let me know if this does not work.

Good Luck!!!

If you want to reformat to factory condition, then press Ctrl + F11 at start-up when the blue bar comes up with "Dell.com" on it. If you miss it then just let it start up, then restart and try again. If it still does not work, press F12 at startup and select recovery option. Please note, if you have deleted the Dell Recovery Partition this will not work for you. You will need to reformat by inserting your Operating System CD at Startup and booting from that (F12).
