There are two HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ports on your Television.Please refer the diagram below to know about the HDMI ports of your Sony Bravia KDF-46E3000.In the diagram the labeled ports numbered 6 and 7 are the two HDMI ports on your television.You can connect your TV with other devices which supports HDMI with an HDMI cable to view High Defenition videos.

SOURCE: Sony KDF-46E3000 sound but no picture

you have to remove the back cover using with a phillip screw driver. and then look for the lamp if get busted or need for replacement due lamp hour span.

does the lamp fan stay on? you can see thru the back if the fan is running. If it is not running you need to replace it.

There are two layers in front screen, check both layers are damaged or not.
Part numbers are as follows:
321007211 ... PLATE (E46L), DIFFUSION (KDF-46E3000 ONLY) [front layer] price is $148
321007311 ... PLATE (E46F), DIFFUSION (KDF-46E3000 ONLY) price is $128
Available in Sony Part Store, put part number in search box, hit enter to get result.
Yes, average handy person can replace it, need to take off front screen frame by removing screws at rear sides of tv.
