I have a pair of JBL Platinum speakers I had used with a Compaq Presario computer in the past.

I now want to use these speakers with my desktop PC. I cannot find the instructions for connecting the speakers. How do I connect these speakers to my PC?

SOURCE: JBL PLATINUM SERIES SPEAKERS

It is possible, but you may run into a problem with the amplification to be able to hear the speaker. Without knowing exactly what your setup is the best I can say is to attempt to hook them up to your headphone jack and see how well they work. If you don't hear anything, you need an amplifier. If you hear a distorted sound, but volume is not an issue, use the line out jack and see if it is any better.

SOURCE: no sound from speakers

Probably.
Do they connect to the computer via USB or mini plug?
If mini plug, make sure you have the right jack on the back of the computer (there's two)
Then go into System Preferences ... select "Sound" and see if you can select something other than "Internal Speakers" - the computer may just not be aware that you want to use the external speakers ...
Are the speakers powered? Is there a volume control on the subwoofer, or an external fob with a volume control on it? You probably know this if you used them previously with your Compaq computer ...

Good luck!

Compaq 7750. Can I attach speakers to this model? I was given it but it came without speakers

Compaq FS 7550 has no built-in speakers. However, the FS7550 monitor comes with a pair of detachable, independently powered JBL Platinum Series speakers, which can be mounted on sides on the monitor.

Go to the family dollar they have those wires that have both male ends. It is meant for ipods, and mp3 players so you can connect them to modern stereos that have inputs like that. I bought sevel of them because they are very usefull for about a few bucks each.

Try connecting the speakers to another PC if one is available. This will let you know if the problem is in fact the speakers themselves, or something in the way they were being reattached.

Hopefully this will help you get to the solution, and please post back to let me know what's happening. Thanks for rating FixYa!

Speakers not working

I have the same problem with pluggng speakers into dell computer. I see on the dell there is no provision to get power to the speakers as there was on the presario. There is a power (12V) wire that does not have a place to go into on the dell.
