I have a pair of JBL Platinum Series computer speakers that came with a Compaq Presario Desktop. I've since purchased a Dell Dimension 9200 Desktop and want to use the JBL speakers with it, but the power adapter doesn't work. For the Compaq, the cord was female to female but for the Dell, I need the female end that plugs into the speaker to have a male end that connects to the back of the PC. Please help!!!

Go to the family dollar they have those wires that have both male ends. It is meant for ipods, and mp3 players so you can connect them to modern stereos that have inputs like that. I bought sevel of them because they are very usefull for about a few bucks each.

On windows it seems you don't have the sound card drivers installed.

JBL PLATINUM SERIES SPEAKERS

It is possible, but you may run into a problem with the amplification to be able to hear the speaker. Without knowing exactly what your setup is the best I can say is to attempt to hook them up to your headphone jack and see how well they work. If you don't hear anything, you need an amplifier. If you hear a distorted sound, but volume is not an issue, use the line out jack and see if it is any better.

Speakers not working

I have the same problem with pluggng speakers into dell computer. I see on the dell there is no provision to get power to the speakers as there was on the presario. There is a power (12V) wire that does not have a place to go into on the dell.
