I have an older Sony Wega TV which only has one HDMI port. I believe the port is loose, so when ever the wire is moved a bit, I loose the connection and get a blank screen with no sound. This has happened several times and I've fixed it each time. I just don't remember what I did. I'd unplug everything, turn everything off, and wait before setting it all up and it coming back. Is there a better way to reset it. Sometimes I can get it back, while other times it takes hours. Right now its going on 12.

The most common problem (I have fixed lots) is the Vertical amplifier has developed a loose connection. It probably just needs resoldering. As things expand it makes and looses connection you picture goes in and out. The vertical chip is a large black chip that gets hot, over time it degrades the solder until a connection is damaged. Most newer sets have a protection circuit that senses the lack of height, and shuts down the picture tube to save it. When the picture dropped to a line on older TVs and left that way too long it would burn a line into the face of the picture tube. You then had to have the picture tube replaced along with the vertical amp. it's kinda like a screensaver for your TV.

hello .this does sound like bad solder joints .all printed circuit boards do this after a while due to heating and cooling .is not advisable to try to repair yourself .possible electric shock and spiking .will do a lot of damage .take to a shop to have repaired

I think I have the solution for you. I have the same tv and it does the
same thing when you turn on the power button on the remote when the tv
turns on you hear a click then the red light flashes about 5 to 6 times
then the tv comes on. on the remote there should be two buttons on top
of the remote one says power and the other one says system hit the
power button to turn on the tv when you hear the click and see the red
light flashing then hit the system button which will turn off the tv
then hit the power button again and it will turn the tv on without the
red light flashing it should work
