How do I fix an HDMI input that has stopped working

Sony Grand Wega KDF-55XS955. I have been using an HDMI port to connect back and forth from my PS3 and computer and it worked for quite some time. Then one time I was switching between them and the tv stopped acknowledging that there was anything connected. I've tried multiple other devices and switched the cable but the result has been the same. I have used the same devices and cable with the 2nd HDMI port and the TV acknowledges them fine. Anyway, I'm not sure how to fix this problem. PLEASE HELP!!

This sometimes happens on my Samsung tv. With the tv switched on try unplugging the tv from the mains supply and leave for 3 minutes then plug back in and try. I hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Wow. It seems to have worked with one additional note. After plugging back in I had to rotate inputs until I came back to that one and then it showed up. Thanks VERY MUCH for the no cost solution."

Authorized sony repair center told me the problem was the Q Box. Ever heard of this? Part runs about 300 bucks. TV is out of warrenty as it is 2 years old. Do you think it is worth it to fight sony and get them to replace the part or just fix the TV?

Part Number is A1167541A, service rep called it a Q Box in the diag, however the web says its the b block assmy.

read this if you think it's the same problem

I would have to say you have a bad projection lamp!! They do NOT last forever!!! About 3000 hours is normal. If this is out of warranty--about $300 in--house repair or so.

I have a sony wega KDF42WE655 TV(42 inch). It has a HDMI port I recently bought a PS3 and hooked it up to the TV. With the HDMI port connected I do not get any picture or sound. Attempts of rebooting...

There is a separate IC on the main board that does nothing but process the HDMI signal, basically if your using the cable, AVI or any other input other than HDMI and chances are that is bad, it can be replaced if you have a lot of electronic experience, its a $3 chip but its not easy to replace..I would replace the main board if you can find one, sometimes main boards are hard to find..below is a link to the service manual.

Hello. The most common cause of the problem you have stated is a bad HDMI cable. Borrow a cable and install it to check and see. regards, Joe
