Light bulb burned out

Left the door ajar and it blew out light bulbs. Everyone says to unplug but the fridge is built in. Do you think if I shut the main breaker it would work? Also it blew out the freezer lights as well even though the fridge door was the only one left open. Thanks

Hi -- The door's screw at the bottom to make it a 90 or 120 degree angle fell out. My husband screwed it back in and when he did that, the door was beeping that it was open and then the lights burned out. I have a VCSB423SS, by the way. Not what is indicated on this problem. How can the one light bulb I replaced be working and the other 3 brand new bulbs not be working? And how can the freezer lights not work if that door wasn't opened? The ice tray light is still working. Thank you so much!

Hi,

Did you have a hinge kit recently replaced? If so call them back they missed something. If not, look into the light circuit a if it goes to ground this light issue would happen. Most of these issues I found in the upper section behind the upper grills. I hope this helps

you do have a switch at the top door hinge . make the phillip screw are tight at the top of the door . if they are loose the door will not align in order make contact with that switch. or you may have a faulty light switch

Door ajar warning light/interior light won't come on

Good Afternoon bibliophilel, based on the symptoms you are describing, may I suggest resetting the refrigerator. This can be done by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait roughly ten minutes and then turn the unit back on. If the issue persists, then more than likely the light socket and/or the door switch that triggers the bulb and alarm are faulty. In this regard, I would suggest contacting an Authorized Service Technician that will be able to assist you in the exact diagnosis of the appliance and repair.

HI,
You may have a failing door switch which is causing this problem, if you remove the bulb and close the door, the the red light out? If so, its possible you bulb is fine, you door switch has failed.
I hope this helps

I have a Kenmore Elite stainless steel three door refrigeator I bought it oct 07 at sears. This am I got up opened the refrigerator door and it was hot inside I think maybe the door was ajar over nite can...

Do you recall if the door opened easier than normal that morning? its possible, but not likely, that the door was open, but its kind of hard to make those frech doors stay open even partially. you may have a bad light switch not shutting light off. is any of the plastic around the light bulb melted?
I have to think its something with the light bulb, since you say it was hot inside. thats a far cry from the not really cold i normally hear from my customers.

some french door fridges use a sort of finger mechanism located at the top outer corner of doors, if this breaks, the doors might not close easily by themselves, or worse, not stay open. without personal inspection, i cant give definitive answer

Light bulb blew out. Put in replacement bulb, which will not turn on in frig, but will work in a lamp. Is there a fuse top replace or a circuit breaker to reset?

No there is not a fuse I am sorry to say, you are probably dealing with a broken wire or shorted socket. If you are brave you can unplug the fridge and remove the screws holding the control box(plastic casing the light is set into) and check the 2 wires going to the light for breaks or burns. Also make sure your door switch is opening and closing to allow the light to come on.

Light is off in fridge and the bulb is NOT burned out

first unplug the machine then:
check the lamp scoket for flattened metal bars
if they are not touching the bulb pull them up to contact the side and, bottom of the lamp base replace the bulb and plug the machine in then:if that didn't work; if you can substitute another new identical bulb then: check again next check for a broken door switch

Power and no lites in refrig/freezer; beeping

depending on age of unit, the problem may lie in the light bulb, well the door closing anyway, the newer unit s actuall will shut down all interior lights, in the evnet that teh door is left open for more then 2-3 min, so its possible that a light switch is not being activated so the uit thinks the door is open and has shut down the rest of lights, cooling however does continue normally.

Won't start, just beeps - sounds like door switch problem others have had

The three short beeps could be part of the fault code. Check the owners manual and there are diagnostic sheets on the inside of the machine. I cannot find this fault code in my data base. What is the Model and Serial Number of your Dryer. Check the Power inside the machine at the power cord power connections. You should have 120V from both power terminals to the common terminal. There should be 240 Volts across the main power terminal. Another quest replaced the power cord. Hope to hear some good news soon.
