My w864 fills with water but will not move on to the wash cycle, after approx 30 seconds the pump bales out the water and then the rinse light starts to flash. The machine does not go into the spin cycle neither. I have tried different programmes but the same happens. (have carried out all the remedies suggested in the manual trouble shooting guide but to no avail) I have had a repair man check out the pump and motor and put a test meter on all the circuits and still no joy. The only other thing it could be is the PCB, and to check this out will mean calling out a MIELE engineer who charge a £99 call out fee plus the cost of a possible replacement PCB. £300 plus I have been told. I have to ask myself is it worth repairing. The machine is only just outside the 5 year warranty period and we will be very disappointed if it will cost this much to repair as we bought it on the grounds of reliability and being the Rolls Royce of washers ????£$%£ Please please any advice My w864 fills with water but will not move on to the wash cycle, after approx 30 seconds the pump bales out the water and then the rinse light starts to flash. From the owners manual;
Main Circuit Breaker (located on the rear main frame):
The main circuit breaker is a safety feature
built into your power chair. When the batteries and the motors are heavily strained (e.g., from excessive
loads), the main circuit breaker trips to prevent damage to the motors and the electronics. If the circuit
trips, allow your power chair to "rest" for approximately one minute. Next, push in the circuit breaker
button, turn on the controller, and continue normal operation. If the main circuit breaker continues to trip
repeatedly, contact your Quantum Rehab Provider.
If a washing machine is rumbling, and very noisy on spin, the main
suspect is the drum bearings. Drum bearing failure is common on many
washing machines due to water getting into them if the drum bearing
seal fails. (Hotpoint and Zanussi in particular in my experience) To
check for drum bearing failure you can take the belt off and spin the
drum by hand. If the drum rumbles when spun then the bearings may have
gone. There should be a constant rumble all the time the drum is
revolving.
Another
drum bearing failure symptom is excessive up and down play in the drum
which can be checked for by lifting the drum up and down from the drum
lip behind the door seal. A further symptom of drum bearing failure can
be a brown rust patch underneath the washing machine and down the back
of the outer drum, underneath the drum pulley (where the belt goes)
although this patch is not always present. There are usually two small
holes at the back of the drum bearings where water that has got past
the drum bearing seal trickles out, and it's usually stained with
grease and rust if water has got into the bearings.
Loud
noises when turning the drum by hand can also be caused if the drum
itself splits, or the spider at the back of the drum has come away from
the drum, is corroded or even broken. This would normally be a loud
noise on each revolution of the drum whereas the noise when drum
bearings have gone is constant all the time the drum is turning.
Lifting the drum checking for excessive play can often reveal a broken
or loose drum spider which sometimes only occurs at certain points
round the drum (the spider has three arms and is bolted to the drum at
three points)
If you mean that the machine is tripping the circuit breaker then that is an indication that the water is creating an electrical current path to Earth. The heating element is normally enclosed in a metal sheath but if this is compromised then water will get in and current will then leak to earth, causing the circuit breaker to trip. The heating element can be replaced, but the cause of the damage to the element should also be determined to prevent it happening again. The rotating drum can become partially detached from it's mount and end up hitting the heating element when spinning, causing the element to be damaged. The drum mount (often called a SPIDER) may therefore also need replacing. If you machine was making a lot of knocking noises when in spin cycle then it would certainly indicate a broken mount.
If your talking about tripping the breaker its designed to trip under load. Yes if something is keeping the drum from turning that put a load on the breaker and trips it..It will keep tripping until there's no over load on the drum...I'm guessing your talking about a washing machine... You can take the belt off the motor and if the motor is good it will turn on but not spin the drum...Then you know the motor is good and something is preventing the drum from turning. And if the motor is bad you can smell a burnt smell if you get close enough to the motor..Hope this helps

Isolate power and water supply and gain access to the main drum motor. Check for condition of carbon brushes by removing them and repla
ce if severely worn. Check wiring loom around motor and right back to module controller. The clicking is obviously power being supplied to motor via the loom to the motor. finally check for any dry solder joints or burnt areas on the circuit board controlling the motor.
Cant understand how the machine will revolve on the 'spin cycle' & yet you can hear the motor on the 'wash cycle' but yet it doesnt revolve!!
Nomally if the water fills, & the tub revolves without the programmer advancing, its because the heater is not working. ie faulty thermostat, heat element, or maybe a wire burned off in the 'heater circuit'. Check if you have 240 volts at both ends of the heat element, with a meter or 240 volt bulb
!! BE CAREFUL OF 240VOLTS!!
