Most folks forget that this printer does Landscape not portrait. Unfortunately, Widows defaults to Portrait. Go to your properties button when you hit the file-print command and change that in the paper options tab.

Brother Model Pt-65

There are two vertical fonts - small and normal. To put the labeler into vertical mode, hold down the [Code] key and tap the [J] key.
When it asks " 1-9 ", let go of the [Code] key.
Press the [8] key if you want small vertical type, OR the [9] key if you want normal size vertical type. Then you have to hit the [ <--' ] enter key.
Now you are stuck in Vertical mode ! :-O

To get back to normal, hold down the [Code] key and tap the [J] key, Let go of the [Code] key.
Then tap the [3] key and the enter [<--'] key. You are back to horizontal labelling.
:-) phew!
