How do I scan multiple pages to one file using a deskjet 2512 printer/scanner

On the control panel, select scan to computer and choose PDF.

If you are using the sheet feeder, it will scan all pages and create one file with them all.

OR

If you're using a scanner glass, i.e. one page at a time, when the first page finishes scanning, you will get a message asking if you have another - answer YES and follow the instructions (basically that means place next page on scanner glass and hit OK/Continue). Rinse and repeat until you've scanned all pages then answer NO.

You should find a PDF file in your HP Scan Folder usually named "scan.pdf" unless you've changed the settings. (If there is/are already scanned files in that folder, they will have consecutive numbers, e.g. "scan001.pdf" "scan002.pdf" etc

On full scan the scan stalls at 12%

The answer to this riddle is, "What file or folder does this program freeze on while trying to scan." This could point to a file permission that is not allowing the program to scan. Permission level to the folder is about that of the user trying to scan it.
This could also point to a file/folder corruption.
Both of which would be best handled by a professional. You would do yourself a favor taking this PC in to a IT professional for further investigation.

HP officejet 7310 all in one:

While scanning, at the point of selecting the destination folder, make sure YOU SELECT THE SAME FOLDER. You may need to click on the back arrow to return this ORIGINAL folder. At the point of selecting the destination folder you can resolve this issue.

I am trying to scan a document to email

In most cases, you want to scan to file and save the file in a folder of your choice. I have a 7310 xi all in one and I have a folder on my desktop named scans. When I scan a pic or document I save it as a jpg (pic) file or a PDF (document) file to that folder. Then when I email someone, I attach the file using the attach button on the email page.

Scan a Multipage Document into a Single File

My scanner is a Cannon but the basic jist of what your trying to do is universal. You need to open up the software for the scanner and look for an icon that says scan to file. It sounds like you have already done this. If so you are very close in the step I mention to the setting you need to scan multiple pages into one PDF file. Once you find the setting to scan multiple pages be sure to not click "FINISHED" until your last page is scanned in.

Scanning software issue

if you go to scan settings under user tools you will see that you can set it to a multipage pdf or multi page jpeg tiff , or what ever , so if you scan 20 pages it will create 1 file and it would contain your 20 pages
