How to remove lenovo R61 thinkPad POWERON PASSWORD

THINKPAD BIOS AND POWER ON PASSWORD
The BIOS password is configured from the BIOS setup and this password is stored on an 24RF08 EEPROM chip. There is no backdoor password available and IBM/Lenevo support says the motherboard needs to be replaced. Also removing the BIOS battery to discharge the BIOS and reset it to the default settings will not allow you to bypass this password. This also applies to the Power On Password and the Hard Disk Password. There is a way to crack the password but you need electronic skills, electronic components and several programs plus a working computer to carry out this task. For details on how to do this check this WEB site. http://sodoityourself.com/hacking-ibm-thinkpad-bios-password/

I'm having trouble removing a bios password from my latitude d631. I tried removing the battery for a few hours, and dozens of default master passwords. Nothing's worked and this is alot of trouble just to...

there are a few options, if there is no small battery on the motherboard you can either replace the eprom chip or do a paperclip trick. on ebay there are password removal sellers for around $20
sometimes they can help , but it sounds like its locked in you eprom the paperclip trick involves removing the motherboard and powering on the laptop while jumping the pins on the eprom chip with a paperclip.

Bios will not boot

I was going to advise "Try downloading and installing the Bios update from the manufacturer website. If the programming on the Bios EPROM was corrupted this should resolve the problem. " problem is even if you did this you wouldn't be able to install the update since there is nothing to tell the computer what devices it controls. Even a bad Bios battery will not cause this situation. You could try getting a replacement EPROM of the Bios from the manufacturer but I would either replace the motherboard or take it to a shop that might be able to reprogram the EPROM with the correct BIOS. I haven't priced an actual BIOS chip in a very long time but it should be relatively cheap.

I deleted my bios how do i install my bios

The software in the BIOS is stored on an EPROM (Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory). So, buy some hardware, namely an EPROM writer, remove the EPROM chip from the motherboard, insert the EPROM chip into the EPROM writer, download the latest BIOS-software from IBM's web-site, and load the software onto the EPROM writer, and rewrite the software onto the chip. Remove the chip from the EPROM writer, and reinsert it into the IBM motherboard.

Locked r30 diplays locked symbol can't do a thing

Does this laptop belong to you or you purchased it? If so you need to contact that person for the password or ask for a refund.

This ThinkPad laptop has a Power on Password. This password is enabled to prevent unauthorized access to this laptop.
This password is configured from the BIOS and is stored on an EEPROM chip (ATMEL 24RF08) and removing the BIOS battery to reset the BIOS to the factory defaults will not remove this password.

There are no backdoor passwords available. IBM state the fix is a replacement motherboard.

Need password

The password requested is the Power on Password and it is stroed on the AMETEL 24RF08 EEPROM chip.
The Power on Password is set from the BIOS configuration and removing the BIOS battery wil reset the BIOS to the default settings but will not remove the password.
There are no backdoor passwords available and IBM say the fix is replacing the motherboard.
You can hack into the EEPROM to retrieve the password but it requires electronic knowledge to build an electronic interface and running a program on a working computer.

Unable to start up/unlock computer

This laptop has a power on password. There are no backdoor passwords available and removing in BIOS battery won't fix this problem because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip.
I'm not sure which EEPROM chip is used in you model laptop, but if it is the Atmel 24RF08 chip then you can hack into this to recover the password. For information on how to do this go to :-
