For most of the Panasonic DP-8000 series multi-function printers, a J42 error indicates a paper jam in the paper exit/fuser area. I hope this helps. If the error persists, there may be a damaged sensor inside the printer. That is not something I can't help you solve.

Check/replace the three exit and inverter actuatiors part #'s dzkl000047/48/49. Make sure inverter guides are tight. If persists replace inverter solenoid part #dzgb000033.

What i have seen is the big white gear behind the flywheel is broken where the gear mates with the pin on the shaft.
