When you installed the Belkin, without running the install on your dad's
computer, Vista rebelled, and is now in a non-cooperative frame of mind
until or unless you obtain the cooperation and participation of your dad in the install process, so that his system properly integrates into the larger
network you are setting up.

I repeat that which was implied.

Get your Dad's cooperation and participation FIRST!

I had to put my computer back to factory settings and now my Belkin wont go on wireless. It does work if i plug cable in.Is there anything i can do?

HI,
I see you set Windows back to defaults as you mentioned and now your Router will not go Wireless.
First Restoring Windows Back to Factory Defaults will not reset your Routers Settings to Defaults together with Windows.
So Most Probably the issue is since you restored windows back to factory defaults you may need to install the Wireless Driver again on the Machine / Computer to make your computers wireless card work again and be able to detect and connect to your Belkin Router.
try a difefernt device that can connect wireless to your Router or maybe a different Laptop to see if the Belkin is working fine wireless.
If any other Laptop will not detect the Belkin then try turning the Wireless Radio ON again in the Router Settings of Belkin.
But I suggest to check all your system drivers if installed for it to be wireless capable again on the issue, Restoring Windows back to Default will not change anything in the Belkin Router. I believe this is a Driver issue on the Wireless card of your Computer.
You mentioned the system does work if plugged in Wired right, check your drivers install every driver that needs to be installed from the Manufacturer Website of your Computer for proper and compatible drivers.
Have a nice day.

Bought a G Wireless USB Network Adapter, on install when it asks to plug it in the computer cant find it, then I get a error message that I need to instal the network card

To configure the wireless router, it needs to be connected to a computer with a LAN cable. Therefore the computer needs a LAN card and the LAN card driver installed and if you need to connect a laptop or computer to the router by wireless then the laptop or computer needs a wireless card plus the wireless card driver.
To configure the wireless router and wireless cards in the laptop or computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Belkin router, apple lap top and del Inspiron are the three I have in the house. How to connect the new computer to the router?

You should be able to hardwire (Ethernet cable) those pc's to the router. If it is wireless and you are not running cables directly from the router to the pc's, you have to have wireless cards installed in each of those computers in order to pick up the 802.11 wireless signal. The wireless software on the pc will find the router as long as the router is in range. If you have setup the router properly you should be fine. You may just need to power out and reboot the modem and router after connecting the pc's in order to assign new IP's to each computer receiving a wireless signal.

If you have any problems please respond with as much information as possible including model numbers and ISP provider.

What is a desktop card? Belkin Wireless G Router questions too.

The only thing you need is a network connection in the back of your computer if you are going wired or a wireless adaptor for each device if you want to connect that way.

I understand the Wii has wireless built into it but you might want to check on that.

Belkin wireless router installation with a laptop that has an internal modem

Depending on the operating system that you are running, and if you have the appropriate wireless cards, you should be able to do this either with or without the modem. If you have the modem connected to one computer, and wireless cards on both computers, then your best option would be to just connect directly from one computer to the next. If you can tell me the answers to these few questions, I can help you get on the right path.

What operating system are you running? Windows XP? Vista? Macintosh?

Do both of your computers have wireless network cards? If not, then which computers have the wireless network, and which computer has the modem?
