hi there
this laptop as i understand would be running windows xp.
to by pass the password do the following
if you know the password just log on to windows, go to "start, control panel, user accounts. choose the user account you want and from the option list click on remove password.
if you don't know the password the follow these steps.
press the F8 key as you turn the laptop on. you may have to press it a few times repeatedly.
you will get a boot option menu. choose the "safe mode". it would be the first option on top of the list.
the system will go through the boot process. then it comes to windows log on screen.
click on the "Adminitrator" (hopefully there is no password here). or if there is just type it in.
once the windows has loaded go to "start, control panel, user accounts.
in user accounts you can remove any user password or alter other account settings.
if you find this useful please vote me.

If this is a BIOS password, you can clear it by disconnecting the AC adapter, removing the battery, then removing the keyboard and unplugging the small clock/BIOS battery inside (in Dell laptops it is usually underneath the F5 key or close to that area).
If you used a third-party security program (not the Dell BIOS password or Windows log-in password), then contact the publisher of that program. Be sure to have the installation key or serial number for that program available to establish the legitimacy of your request.
