Sylvania 6842PE 42 inch Plasma Fuzzy picture and horizontal Lines

I had the tv given to me by an older gentelman because he said one day i just wound turn on. I took it home and hooked it up to my satelite box using the 3 rca cables and it turned on and I can kinda tell what I'm watching but it maily looks like shadowy figures walking behind an array of vibrant colors and horizontal lines. I don't want to spend a ton of money fixing it so I don't even know if it is worth taking into a shop to have it fixed or not. i am by no means an electrician but am always up for a project if it is something I can do myself

This sounds like problems with VGA cables when a pin is not making good contact. Have to tried replacing the cable that connects the t.v. to the device giving the image?

The only solution to this problem is to have a technician look at it. Sounds like your TV may be going out. Not Good.

the 1inch black line is either a buffer board gone bad or the ribbon cable from the plasma screen to the buffer board, the snowy picture could be many things, including y-sus, xsus or tuner boards

How do you hook up regular coax cable to the TV?
You simply need an "F" connector to "Belling-Lee" converter. about $4.00. At any Radio Shack, Antenna shop. This screw onto the end of the existing antenna connection & makes it so you can plug it into the Socket at back of set.
