Laptop overheated in my bag and now the screen does not come on,
the laptop will not work with external monitor either.
When trying the dell troubleshooting advice of holding down fn and turning on the laptop the lock key on the keyboard remains flashing but nothing else happens i.e no display or no beeping sounds.
really dont know what to do,
is this a video card problem or the motherboard?
The only way to tell if its a video card problem is to swap it out with a video card that works and see if it works..if it does then its your video card, if it does not then its something else..but first try these two things and let me know what happens..first toggle the FN with F5/F6/F7. Sometimes it gets changed to video projector and the monitor does not come on..if nothing, then reboot and hit F8 that is Safe Mode. Choose Safe Mode with VGA, using your onboard video. If you can get a picture then go to Device Manager find the video card in the list and right click on the '+", then right click on the video card and update driver..see if one of the last two work before testing with a different video card. Let me know...pls rate this solution with 4 diamonds..
