Thin black horizontal lines

It sounds like you have a bad capacitor on the power supply or other boards. These will heat up over time and eventually swell and probably vent which will cause you this issue. The bad news is you need to get into the set and be able to solder to change them. The good news is they are easy to spot because they will be swelled up and not look like a cylinder or have a goo leaking from them.
If you happen to know enough to change these you can find kits online to replace all the easy components. NOTE: You have to use low ESR High temp capacitors on these because they get hot and won't run the delicate digital processes without producing very clean filtering(which is what usually causes lines like this... Dirty filtering of power)

Thats almost alwasy a Tconn issue replacing the Tconn board should solve the issue in most cases you can get replacement T conn from www.tvcircuitboards.com
