We had this exact same issue with our Samsung projection tv. We solved the problem (temporarily) by trading in the cable box for a new one. All colors worked for a while, now the red goes on and off at will... I think we may have had a problem with the cable box AND the tv. Maybe this will help?? Good luck!

My samsung hcn4226wxixaa screen is yellow i do not know what happened any suggestions???

one or two of your color guns have gone bad, or the circut that drives the has. There are three guns, red, green and blue. you need all three to produce all the colors, including white and black. in most cases this is not a cost effective repair, unless you have an extended warranty. if it is a sears device, or you bought it from them, they will sell you a warranty to for 200 dollars and then you can get it fixed. you might want to consider getting a new tv

Black spots like little bugs on screen and some white spots

optical engine failure. that technology is called DLP digital light processing and it uses a device called a DMD digital micomirror device that has millions of mirrors onthe face and they independtly move and sometimes they can get stuck or not move and cause spots black or white across the entire picture. i suggest calling customer support for possible repair accomodation

Black and white picture only

The color wheel is not the problem. If the spinning color wheel is impaired in its RPMs it will cause picture distortion, not black and white picture. If the color wheel looses any of its color fins, like if it is broken, there will be a loud vibrating noise inside the tv which you did not mention. Also if the color wheel is broken and doesn't spin, the tv will not start up.

The likely problem is on the digital control board or the power supply and should be referred to a local repair shop for repair.

There is an outside chance that you will receive color if you experiment with using all of the different input ports to see if you can find one that will bring back color.

Hcn4226w samsung

Hi,

The most common problem with all 3 tube rear projectors is a damaged convergence circuit. The Samsung TVs are easier to repair than many others and the numbers that break down is not excessive. For every Samsung with a convergence problem there are a large number that did not breakdown. The fault is caused by bumps or noise in the AC power, not the TV design. This usually produces colored outlines around heads, etc.

Check out the Convergence Gallery. If you see the colored outlines or color shading as in the Gallery, you have a convergence problem.

This requires the replacement of the defective IC or ICs and any damaged or smoked resistors. Usually there is little alignment required after the repair. If you play with all the adjustments before the fix, hours may be spent re-aligning.

Don't monkey with it.

This is a delicate and difficult repair. If not done by someone with some electronic repair experience, the TV will likely end up as junk or cost considerably more for a tech to fix the damage done.

If you live in Calgary, call me. If elsewhere, find a competent tech.

Samsung HCN4226w green color problem

The green that you see is the DMD board (digital mirror display) going bad. Very common for this model.

Samsung HCN4226W Green Tint Around Corners

sounds like the alignment of the convergence in that area needs to be preformed or you have a speaker or something in that corner

My blue color is off...HCN4226W.

If the blue is shifted away from the rest of the picture and maybe bowed then try the manual convergence adjustment. My guess is the red will move but the blue won't. If I'm correct call a tech unless you are a skilled solderer, then replace the large STK amps in the Convergence circuit and check all of the resistors in the circuit. Good Luck.
