Epson Stylus C88 won't print black ink

My espon c88 wont print black ink. All of the other colors print out. I've tried 2 different brand new black ink cartridges and multiple head cleaners. The black ink wont even print on the head cleaner print out.

I noticed this post as a solution to my problem:

"Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water."

I cant seem to locate the small rubber cup you're talking about. Under my print head parking area is a black and white piece of plastic (with cubed holes in them) and inbetween these two pieces are 2 verticle stips, one is a sponge, the other has 4 verticle dots with what looks to be ink color on it.

Am I totally lost? Could someone explain the small rubber cup further, or do you have another solution? Thanks in advance

Rectangular area next to the sponge is the cup they refer to. I have used houshole ammonia here and let it soke for a few minutes to dissolve dried ink.

Recently replaced all cartridges in C88 with new recently purchased Epson cartridges. Only blue and black ink prints. No red or yellow. Tried cleaning printer heads. Still no red or yellow printing.

You have to go to the properties of the printer and in the maintainance tab do some nozel cleaning and head cleaning.
and check it should be fine
thanks

Epson Stylus C88 - New Epson Factory ink cartridges. Nothing prints, although printer goes through the motions of printing. What could be wrong? Ink levels are fine.

You should run a nozzle check to verify if the heads are printing all the inks correctly. If the pattern is incomplete you need to run head cleanings.

Epson stylus C88 won t print color ink black is

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://websites.uk-plc.net/UK_Inkjet_Cartridges_PLUS/products/Print_Head_Cleaner.htm
Other makes & brands are available just google "inkjet head cleaning solution" Hope this helps.

Epson C88 printer only prints blank pages

See my post about about underhead cleaning. If that makes no difference you will need the countermeasure for the split cap tube. The document about loss of ink on CX series machines is also applicable to C88

C88 only green and yellow

You are out of black and magenta (tricolor cartridge) ink or ink has dried up.
Try touching the nozzle plate (underneath print cartridge) with a water dampened cloth (not alcohol) for cleaning clogged nozzles (do not rub).
Ultimate remedy : put in contact nozzle plate with hot water for about 5 seconds.
If color still missing your printer need new cartridges.
