Fixya Expert Utility and Ubuntu

Do I really have to install the utility in order to receive Expert Chat Sessions?

    Yeah as of now Wine doesn't fully support the utility because it relies heavily upon the .net framework. I tried using mono +GTK and doing a whole bunch of other things to get it going but most of it was painful so I just created an XP partition instead.

    The "Chat Live!" is for people asking questions. I want to be the person giving the answers.

    Fixya just changed their Expert Chat settings. Now you don't need to use the tool anymore.

Just make sure the chat status is available, then you will get browser popups. and they always come up on the unanswered page also but are picked up really fast these days.

I dont think so, i think you can just click the "Chat Live!" button... If you do though, for Ubuntu you can use Wine, which lets you open windows applications in Ubuntu.

My Fixya expert utility doesn't work. Error
Download and install the .NET Framework from this link : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

A quick Google search tells me this error means you are running .NET programs without having it installed. Surf to Windows update and patch .NET layer to your system. Horizons requires at least version 1.1 I think.

you don't need the utility to answer premium questions or chats, under "my chat status" tick available on the my expertise page and you will get the premium questions.

Issues with Fixya chat?
There.. thats the problem. I was having issues with IE too. Download and install mozilla firefox 3. Before you install it remove the expert utility, then install firefox and install the expert utility again. All your chats will open in FF from then on and you should have no problems.

See there are very less chats sessions each day so you have to atay online signed in with your chat software all most all the time so that you can get one.All you have to do is just be signed in and have alot of patience for a chat to popup.

Windows Live Chat Sessions
check the icons on the right side of your lower system tray and see if the fixya utility is there. if it is click on it and make sure that Run at start up and sound notification are both checked then click my status and then sign in. If its not in the system tray double click the icon on your desk top. Let me know if you need more help.
