Studio utility crashing

I'm using the FInepix S3 Pro (firmware version 2.18) with the Hyper Utility HS V3 to control the camera via the "Studio Utility" program. It was working fine until recently and now everytime I click to control the camera the program crashes. I have tried reinstalling the program to no avail and even done a windows restore point (i'm using windows Vista 32bit) which also didn't work.... any ideas?

What did you do or what changes did you make to your computer since all operated fine? Bad things just do not happen - you must have done something that is now responsible for the issue. Can you repair your Vista installation - your OS may be at issue. If you have other computer with Vista try installing there to see if it works. Maybe something is now wrong with the camera - it happens.

I have Fuji S3 pro and One body locked up during a reception and ERR displayed. 1st i turn off and on . it is work ok. 2nd time it happen again and still show ERR on dispayed. no way to reset. my camera out of warranty. estimate cost for repair 400$ per manifacture.

Something that happens with Macs is the file permissions get messed up from installer programs. This problem usually can be corrected by running the disk tools program. It is usually located in your Applications folder in the Utilities sub folder.

You did not specify with version of OSX your Powerbook Pro is running. Make sure you have all the updates from Apple for your OS. You might also need to get an update from Fuji for the Hyper-Utility2 software. That can be found here: Fuji

Lastly, iPhoto is compatible for quick downloads from your camera

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

This question is too old; however, assuming someone with similar question can be informed of the same.
Most cameras (brand/model) will require an associate software for use in tether mode. For Fuji, it would be Fuji Camera Remote application - Fuji-hyper Utility software, Canon EOS - the EOS Utility etc. Without the software, your camera becomes a SD card holder when it is connected to a computer. You can't do anything with it.
(There are exceptions though - for instance, a Sony Cyber shot DSC W30/ W40 future a AV out jack that can project AV on the computer or TV)

WARNING : This procedure can render your device dead, so do not try if your player is working fine.
  1. The most important step of the whole process is to correctly identify your device CONTROL CHIP and CPU, using wrong firmware or flashing tool may cause damage to your device, unscrew and open your device and write down all chip id's and motherboard numbers you see, you can also try the EasyChips - firmware identification utility but it did not worked for me.
  • You will now need to download the correct firmware and flashing utility for your device, visit sites below and search for your control chip and cpu to download the firmware and flashing utility, you can also post on user-forums to get help identifying the firmware :
  • In my case the chipset was Sunplus AJ262-V7 and the utility needed to flash it was FRM Pro.
  • Once identified you need to connect your device to computer via USB in camera mode (Press A + OK button and plugin USB cord on player), for Windows to identify this mode you will need camera drivers you need to point Windows Found New Hardware Wizard to Driver folder downloaded with the FRM Pro utility above, this will install the first camera driver, for correct identification by flashing utility you need to install a second camera driver - open Windows Hardware Manager and install unidentified camera device drivers by pointing the driver wizard to Driver folder used earlier.
  • Now install and launch FSM Pro flashing utility the new firmware.

    How can I find Firmware updates fore Fuji FinePix S3 Pro Digtal Camera
    Here is the link I used when I had my S3 Pro.

    I didn't do it as outlined because I didn't have the optional AC power adapter and at first didn't know how long it would take for this process. using the camera as an external drive.
    What I did was format a card in the camera place it in my media card reader and downloaded the update to the card. Placed the card in the camera and followed the instructions shown in the link to upload the information to the camera. After I was finished I re-formatted the card again and every thing was fine.
    I will add though make sure that both files sizes are the same meaning if they say the files are 378mg make sure the files after loading to the card are 378mg. This method worked for me.

    Dvd Studio Pro 3 keep getting a menu that is reversed or upside down can not figue out why. Everything else works find, except menu....help!!
    Have you tried using disk utility? Back up your data. Log off. Log on and hold down shift (safe mode) Locate disk Utility software in the tools folder. Start Disk Utility and run "repair permisions". It may take a while - do not interrupt.  Hope this helps :-)
