try to remove the new black cartridge. get a clean cloth. gently wipe the copper strip of the cartridge. unplug the power cable of the printer. gently wipe the contacts of the black cartridge carrier (where you put the black cartridge in). close the carrier, plug the power cable back in. install the black cartridge. then check for the error code. if you still have same error code, try the old cartridge. if the old cartridge still works, you need to contact dell for the replacement of the black cartridge (if you purchase the black cartridge from dell) if the old cartridge is also giving same error. try the steps on the color cartridge as well, it might be with the color cartridge error. or both. worst case scenario the contacts on the printer carrier might be broken already. but in this kind of situation. 98% it's the cartridge that's causing the issue.
1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover. 2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.) 3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. 4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring. 5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.
If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6. If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service. 6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot. 7. Turn the printer off. 8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers. 9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
simply open up your printer and see if there is any residual paper that get stuck, in some case if you can find some small miniature piece of sensor it might cause a erratic sensing that there is a presence of paper while there isnt, try to clear this or clean.
paper jamming indicator means there is some paper in the paper path, unless otherwise ou clear this up you cannnot print.
after you may need to power down or restart your printer once again
cheers
I was able to fix this issue on my all-in-one 944 printer. What happened was that one of the ink cartridge lids had popped open. The hard part was that the carrier was stuck on the far left side, and I wasn't able to pull it over for easer access. However, I was able to fit a finger in and push the cartridge back down. Then when I turned the printer back on the error went away.
I just found that one of the little feeder rollers (??) on the roller bar has jumped out and is sitting (still attached by its spring) on top of the roller bar. I reckon that's curtains for the printer. Am I right or is it repairable?
