It powers up and then just shutdown how can i fix this

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

Shut down your Acer Aspire if it is running. Once the computer is off, press the power button to start it. Press "F2" immediately while your computer is booting up and displaying the "Acer" logo. Keep pressing "F2" until the BIOS Setup screen appears.

Hello,

Please do the following.

Check your power cord for any sign of damages. Check if the light is still lit in your power cord.

Remove the battery and use the power cord only. If you get power, then your battery is defective.

Let me ask you one question. When you say it doesn't turn on, does it mean that there's no sign of power or you are getting power like lights or something like that but the computer just don't boot up to the normal mode?

If the power adapter runs the laptop, it is likely the rechargeable battery needs to be replaced. Go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model of laptop, refine search for battery.

hi, yes the laptop will shutdown if you press power button.
it send command to OS that it required to shutdown in emergency so it shutdown in force. so do not shutdown by pressing the power button. use start> shutdown option.
i hope this will resolve the issue.
