Clx-2160n and mac

I have a Mac Book Pro and would like to print through my LAN (thats why I bought it). USB-print works fine. I can successfully print through LAN using my pc running XP, so there is nothing wrong with the printers network setup. What protocol should I use on the mac? Any ideas?

It's possible your USB slots have a lot of dust, or could be physically damaged and is causing shorts. If three USB drives have already been damaged, your best bet is to send the mac book to apple for inspection. If your warranty is up, or you're feeling adventurous, you can open the Mac Book your self and have a look at what's going on near, around, or on the USB ports.

My Mac Book Pro is showing an error when I print

Hi,
Throw away your HP disk and delete all HP software installed on your machine. It's quite rubbish.
Go to system preferences, and printers. Remove your HP printer (by selecting it and clicking on the '-' Then click on the '+' and let OSX find your printer and automatically load the driver. Now it will work.

N12 and new Mac book pro with FireWire800

As long as you power the devices from the same receptacle or plug strip the MAC will be perfectely safe. Firewire and USB are fairly safe as long as you don't drive high voltage into them from failed equipment or ground loops.
