Homelite hg600 shut off in light rain. It will now run fine for aout 30 minutes but then it can't keep up current outputs like it used to. What gives?

Basically use the unit at full capacity. One evening there was a light rain outside (first time that I've used it in the rain) that was falling on it. The electrical extension that I was using may have had a small cut/short in it...I'm not sure...regardless, shortly after the rain began the generator stopped. On subsequent attempts to use the generator it will start up fine but once its been running for a about 20-30 minutes it begins to run (really low rpms) and the power outage goes way down next to nothing. Just hasn't been the same since the rain. Is there something that might have burned up in it that I need to change?

SOURCE: Engine runs rough after about ten minutes /idles really low

Just trowing some suggestions out there, but, I would check the idle air control valve (solenoid) or the throttle position sensor. If they check out then my last guess would be the map sensor or the vaccuum to the map sensor. Hope I was able to help. Best wishes.

I'd suggest the ignition control module, however I'd have a certified mechanic check it out just in case...

SOURCE: 1986 Yamaha Radian stops running after 20 minutes

Sounds to me like it could be a few things... pretty interesting that it runs and shuts down...sits for a little while then fires back up. Could be something as simple as a bad ground.. maybe it needs cleaned.. if the ground is making very little contact.. the bike would run bad, and because its direct current it has to flow. The metal in the motor frame etc will hold so much DC current.. but *** soon as it load up the bike would stop sparking. Let it sit for a while, DC trickles into the battery through the slight contact, bike fires back up. OR could be bad venting of your fuel tank, or a partial clog at the pet ****.. the first is pretty easy to check, open your fuel cap and start the bike..if it does the same thing then its not a vent problem. One thing that does happen on the Radian, is the reserve fuel screen inside the tank comes loose, and then everything inside the that has built up over the years either partially clogs the pet ****, or the hose, or both. Take the tank off, pull the pet **** off..if it still has two intact tubes with good screens..you probably don't have any junk in your line..but I would pull the line off and blow through it any way... it could be some type of blockage, when the bike sets the fuel seep through, but when it runs it eventually creates a vaccuum that stops the fuel flow. Those are my two first thoughts... good luck!!

SOURCE: Generac Generator won't stay running

I had this same issue with my NP 50G. I replaced the oil pressure & over heat sensor and fuel filter but the problem still existed.

After that I took the fuel bowel off the carb which had some dirt in it. Sprayed it with carb cleaner and that solved the issue. Hope this helps......

Gas lights up for about 5 minutes and then burns out. Try to turn on dryer again, but flame won't light. I let dryer sit for aout 30 minutes and turn on again - flame starts up, but will only last...

If the flame is shutting of before it reaches the operating temperatures the likely failure is a restricted venting system. There is a high limit thermostat that will cause the flame to shut off if there is a lack of airflow due to a restriction in the vent system. Remove the lint filter screen and clean in with soap and water. The filter may appear clean but it could have a clear film of fabric softener residue covering it causing a restriction in the air flow too. After cleaning the filter reinstall it before running the next test.

For testing purposes only, disconnect the dryer vent hose from the back of the dryer and put a normal load of clothes in the dryer and start the dryer. If the clothes dry in the normal amount of time that would confirm a restriction in the vent hose or the venting system. NOTE: Do not leave the vent hose disconnected after running the test. Reconnect the vent hose.

You will likely find the clothes drying in the normal amount of time indicating a restriction in the venting.
