Power supply defect. How to open Myrica LCD-TV VQ40-1?

My 6 years old Fujitsu-Siemens LCD flat screen VQ40-1 has blown my electrical fuse. After that TV is without function. As elektronic engineer I am interessed to have a look into the tv. But I don't know how to open it without damaging the tv. Open all the screws on the back does not help, unfortunately. I would be very grateful if someone could help me and tell me the trick how to open the housing.

My tv is on but the standby button keeps flashing and I cannot do anything with the remote either I've unplugged it and left if for 30 mins

What make and model of TV is this? If its a LCD tv thats more then a few years old chances are its the very common problem of failing capacitors in the power supply. That will usually cause the issue your describing. I have rebuilt dozens of tv power supplies now, the term commonly referred to now is re-capping the power supply. The capacitors become leaky and the voltages go out of tolerance and the tv will no longer turn on. If you can find someone to take it apart and check the power supply board inside that would be your best bet, otherwise its time for a new tv otherwise. There is no simple fix other then repair unfortunately.

We have to push the on button on our TV from 20-100 times to get it to turn on. Have changed batteries and restarted to no avail.

"He said our TV has a problem". Brilliant! To be more specific, he could have suggested switch failure or a failing power supply.

Tv won't power on...

When you are sure the power cable is in and the mains is "on" (no fuse blown in house) you have to assume the defect is in the TV. Can be a blown fuse, or a defective power supply. Both do have a cause, a fuse blows because the power supply wanted to drain more current then allowed. (only seldom it blows because it is old) The power supply can be defect, because a component went defect, or because a defective circuit pulled to much power.
When you don't have electrical or electronic skills, please leave the repair to a service or repair centre

Hello. I have a Fujitsu Siemens TV Myrica PDP-TVP PQ 42-1, and it is 5 years old. No problem until today. First did the colours slowly change. After re-starting the colours were ok for a short while,...

Sounds like to me you either have a video processing problem or you have a powersupply issue. The only way to tell is to open set up and check the powersupply voltages and then go from there.

Let me know if you are willing to open that baby up and then we can check for correct power supply
voltages... Talk to you later. HDTV GURU JAY

Fujitsu Siemens Premium Line P15-1 15" LCD Monitor

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

We got a Myrica PQ42-1 that takes the fuse in our house all the time. After 2-3 times it turns on. Is this normal??

I have the same problem. Returned the TV for warranty repair and got it back still with the same problem. "Change your fuses to 16A slow" was the message from FSC service shop. (16A=3500Watts!)

I have mounted a 10A fuse directly 'between the TV and the 230V outlet so the (house) fuse does not drop.

Now my ******* TV went all black, probably the backlight.
