Hitachi UltraVision 60VF820 TV Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 05, 2012

My Hitachi 60VF820 will works fine but after awhile the picture goes out ( black screen with voice ok). Some times it takes 30 minutes of watching and sometimes last 6 or 7 hours. I do a hard reset and after 30 sec. plug it back on and the picture will last all day. And there are times I have to wait 15 to 20 mins. to restore. What can be the problem?

I replaced the lamp assembly about 6 months ago. Purchased from Laptop or less it was the same part number. But I experience problems with the part because it had a manufactures flaw with the guide holes in the wrong position. So they finally sent me a suitable replacement. Originally replaced because the picture was to dark during the day and the new lamp gave a brighter picture for about 4 months. It works fine but the picture is hard to view unless the room is kept dark. I'm going to remove the back and check the fans and capacitors.

I bet they got a correct housing and put a generic bulb in it--lamp is critical and I doubt it is a fan or cap issue, good luck and I hope you find it.

I reinstalled an old lamp I keep for back up and it worked fine all day. So it looks like you were right about the lamp I was using. I was wrong about the time I installed the lamp, it was 7/27/12. I will make sure to purchase the orginal lamp. Thanks.

SOURCE: Many thin black horizontal lines on my Hitachi Ultravision 50" TV

Good Day, LDS also;
You may have a poor seated cable connector. Unplug TV from A/C, remove back look for a large black connector. It connects between the Main Digital Module and the Drive PWB. Re-insert both ends several times to make better contact, use contact cleaner if have but not always needed. Good Luck, big IRISH.

HL-6187W, picture has vertical lines

If you can post a picture of what the lines are I can assist with the possible causes. I would assume digital board or DMD/ light engine
But a pic would help make it easier to figure out whats going on with the set.Respond to this same post for assistance.

Hitachi 60vf820 displays red flashing light above power green light and picture will not come on.

There are 2 or three things wrong with this T.V. Step one:
Make sure the Bulb is good by taking it out of your T.V. and inspecting it.
If it is bad...

This lamp already has the housing with it, just swap it out.
Two, you could have a bad power supply- Repair is usually 240-280 bucks in shop.
3: You could have a bad fan. The fan on this T.V. that goes bad is a nightmare to get to and I highly recommend a service man to do it.

Our Hitachi tv turns on okay but the picture on comes in for 2-3 seconds and then the screen goes black. Last night the tv work just fine but this problem started today as I turned the tv on to watch...

I don't know what model you have,but... I have a 50v715 and it was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the lamp. So if you have not replaced the lamp in a while then it could just be it time. Hope this is helpful.

Model VS 50501A TV. Works fine for awhile then screen goes black

most likly its your lamp you just need to get a new one off the internet or you can bring it to a repair shop and they will be able to replace it for alittle bit more then the lamp itself will cost

No picture, sound ok

I have a similar issue. Sometimes the entire screen goes black and sometimes only one-half - either the top or bottom half goes black. The only solution we have found is to gently tap the TV (usually the front side) and the picture will come back for awhile. It almost seems heat related as it only goes out after the first 10 minutes of use. There must be a fix to this.

Same problem but mine goes black for long periods. Menu prompts still available and volume "meter" on screen is still visible. Have rerouted cable, changed outlets, all to no avail.
