Every now and then (maybe once every 2 weeks) our dishwasher will not start. We push the autoclean button & nothing happens. We then turn the circut breaker off. The next day we turn the circuit breaker back on and, lo and behold...more times than not...everything works fine. We thought, at first, it might be a circuit breaker problem but it appears that there is power to the unit when the dishwasher won't start. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Sounds like you have a control panel and/or control board issue. Normally when operator functions fail or "halfway" work the main control board, associated keypad, or wiring are the likely suspect. Now...another remote possibility could be the door latch not closing properly. However, this would affect ALL functions. I hope this helps you.

"unlock" the machine by pressing on '3' and holding for a few seconds. Thats what it says on the back of my dishwasher which is the exact same model.

on a dishwasher an ohmmeter is almost useless. the best way to check is to look for voltage. at the door switch check for voltage to ground on both sides. if you have 120 on both sides of the switch then follow the wire over to the control board. if you have 120 going into the control board and nothing coming out of the control then you nood to start looking for a broken neutral. however the likelyhood that its the control panel may be a better idea especially if you are hitting buttons and nothing happens. try reseating any ribbon cables

Had the same problem, removed the kick panel to find a set of instructions under the insulation, had to push a sequence of the panel buttons, its been running great for a couple of weeks now!

in such cases it is always the control panel(touch panel) that needs to be replaced.it is very simple 2 chg and u could save lot of money.to chge cntrl panel ,open the door and remove all the screws around the white plastic part of door.then pull apart the inner part from outside part.the cntrol panel is held to outer panel with 4 screws.b4 that remove 2 screws holding the control board to panel.do not forget 2 unplug the unit from power b4 doing anything.

Yesterday (fri) it wouldn't start gain....so I turned the circuit breaker off. This morning (sat) I turned the circuit breaker back on and it still wouldn't start. I then pushed every button and the only one that would come on was the Drain/Off button. Perhaps that is a clue as to what the problem is.
I have same problem. My dishwasher 2.5 years old. Called Maytag corporate and was told to unplug it for 10 minutes then plug back in. Didn't work. They told me I would need to have a service man out. No longer under warranty. Just got repair estimate for touchpad...320.00 and part will need to be ordered..7-10 days before repair. I may replace the unit instead of repairing. Will not buy another Maytag and certainly not with electronic controls!!
