Thanks dut

Virus got your icons heh? OK, try this, click Ctrl+Alt+Del.. Hold the Ctrl key and the Alt Key, don't turn them lose until after you press the Del (Delete Key). If the task manager opens up (hopefully the virus has not disable it) then Click on the Process Tab and you will see everything that is running. Click on the Image Name in the very first column so that things will be in Alphabetical order. You want to see if explorer.exe is running. If it is click on it to highlight it, then press END PROCESS.

Next you want to click on the File at the upper left hand corner of the Task Manager window. Select the option New Task (run). Type in "explorer.exe" (without the quotes) and press OK. There's your desktop icons... Ok getting besides myself, but hopefully they will reappear unless a virus has them hidden. If they don't appear let me know and we'll unhide them.

I have a Sony vaio VGC-RB52, recently my mother had logged out of her user account in windows 7, and left it at the screen where u choose ur user account. Then it was unplugged by accident some hours...

Hi.

First of all disconnect the hard drive which is clicking and try to turn the desktop on. If it turns on then the HDD is causing the computer problems.
If it doesn't boot up then can you tell me if there is a blinking LED on the PSU (power supply unit)?

Someone turned the sound off on my dell and I don't know how to turn it back on

You have two ways to unmute your speakers.
1. In the right side of your desktop near clock you have an icon like a speaker, right click on it and left click on open volume control. Then go to first box in the left side and uncheck mute, after that your speakers should work normally.
2. Go to start/control panel and double click on sound and devices, it appear a window. In that window uncheck mute from volume tab. That's all.

My son's Emachines T1742 Desktop was left on overnight and when try wake it from sleep mode but it was completely turned off, tried starting it up and I only get a nonstop blinking of the orange and green...

Well maybe a power surge happened last night.

Is the computer plugged into a power protector? If not maybe something got fried.

Check for the smell of burnt components. It smells like burning plastic kind of. If everything looks fine make sure everything is plugged in tightly like the power cord and hard drives etc.

Hope this helped.

Yesterday, when I powered up my laptop, everything was all of a sudden enlarged ( the desktp, icons, internet, text, e-mails, EVERYTHING). I know this is probably supposed to be some kind of useful tool...

Hi,

Your enlarged desktop could be caused by several different things, so I will address each one in the order of likelihood of each one:

1. You may have accidentally changed your Display Settings.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. Scroll down and click on Display Settings. Ensure that your Monitor Resolution is set for the maximum. If not, use your mouse to move the slider bar all the way to the right.

2. You may have accidentally changed the size of text and icons.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. Click on Change the size of text and icons about half way down the screen. If it is not selected, chose the default scale.

3. You may have accidentally turned on the Magnifier.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. About half way down the screen, uncheck the Turn on Magnifier.

To turn off the On-Screen Keyboard on start-up,
right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down, select Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard. Unselect Use On-Screen Keyboard.

To turn off the Narrator on start-up, right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About a third of the way down, select Use the computer without a display. Unselect Turn on Narrator.

I hope this helps. If so, please remember to rate my post.

Thanks!
