SOURCE: frost build-up freezer back wall

Hi, You will need to remove the rear panel and test the defrost heater and the bi-metal switch. The defrost heater is a very common problem with this model. You can check continuity on both the heater and bi-metal to detern which one need replaced. The bi-metal switch needs to be tested while it is could. If both of these parts prove to be ok, you will need to change the mother board.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: frost build up in freezer (ice maker section)

Your ice maker is overflowing and asking for to mush water to make the ice, you may have a real hi water pressure on your water supply
the is a easy way to adjust that but you are going to have to take
your ice maker out
then using a flat head screw driver remove the white square cover
you will see a gear and a adjustment screw and a lever like this

( - I + )

turn the screw to the minus sing a quarter way and install the ice maker back up.

Or a easier way is just closing the water valve before your fridge a little so it wont have so mush pressure and will not fill your ice maker so fast.

the ice maker feel up buy time not buy water level.

SOURCE: Fridge and Freezer Not getting Cold

Your defrost system is at fault.
With this brand it is most likely the defrost thermostat and defrost heater located behind the back freezer panel.
Remove the shelves and bin, then remove the freezer panel. Defrost the ice manually.
Replace the thermostat and heater assembly.

I have a GE Profile Arctica refrigerator that I purchased used last week. Developing quite a bit of frost buildup inside the upper half of the freezer. Also noticing that the flap for the ice doesn't...

Hi yes the flap will cause the frost, you need to replace the solenoid that controls that flap, if this is a side by side, the solenoid is behind the dispenser controls on the freezer door, you take off the control board, and then remove the little mount behind that it has 4 screws and you will see solenoid on right side, it needs to be replaced.

This could be a fan motor problem. Check to see if the fans are running and if not take a look at this page http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/refrigerator-fan-motor.html

If the compressor is not running this page will help http://appliance-repair-it.com/GErefrigeratorrepair.html

There could be a defrost problem, look on the back wall of the freezer to see if it is covered with heavy frost. If so your problem is that it is not defrosting. This page will help http://appliance-repair-it.com/GE-refrigerator-repair.html

The refridgerator party not staying cold... Freezer part is staying cold

Look into back of freezer and see if a layer of frost is building on rear panel. If yes unplug and manually defrost until you can get back with me with the model number. What you said is the first symptos of defrost not taking place. Look around door frame for the model and I will be back later with part numbers. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have had this side by side 4 years now. After

If your compressor is running then I would check the back wall of the freezer. You can remove the back panel. If you see a block of ice/frost then you are having a problem with your defrost system. By shutting it down you allow the frost to thaw and it will work for a week or two before the frost builds up again. If you have a block of ice back there then you cannot circulate air properly. Typically this affects the fresh food side first then you notice the freezer side not keeping proper temp. Its probably an issue with your defrost heater or defrost termination. However it could also be an issue with a relay on your main control board not sending the unit into defrost. You can remove the heater and test it with an ohm meter for continuity. The hi limit termination is located on top of the evap coils and will have pink and orange wires going to it. If it looks "popped" then that is your problem.
Hope this helps _MJ_

GE Profile side-by-side fridge and freezer not cooling properly

Could be a few things. Condenser coil clean? Is the back panel cover of the compressor panel in place? It could have a bad part in the defrost system and it's built up with frost on the coil. To see if this is the problem, unplug the refrigerator and leave the doors open for 24 - 36 hrs. then plug it back in. It should work normal again for a few days until the frost builds back up. If this is the case the defrost system needs repair.
