It sounds like you have taken the steps to isolate the problem to the TV. it seems to be a bad tuner on the Main board. The no signal displayed indicates the TV is otherwise okay. If you have a DVD player or other source you can connect, and you get a picture, then your TV has a bad tuner for sure.
Depends on what you are doing. Sometimes the "full screen" is dependent on the signal coming into the TV from a cable box. Check the setup or menu function on both the TV and whatever input signal you are using. You didn't say what TV and what source i.e. cable supplier, antenna etc. Remember that an HD tv doesn't always display a non-HD picture in full screen.

The noise is coming from one of the plasma driver boards. There are 2 inside the set. These are essentially power supplies for the plasma itself and contain many capacitors. The noise you hear is some oscillation inside a cap or two. This is an indication that one or more components have drifted from their rated value. While the set will continue to work for a while, that board should be replaced. If the board fails, 1/2 of the picture will be blank or the set will not start at all. Call around to get the cost of that board. Please note that continued use of the set WILL NOT cause any harm. This is an annoyance only at this point.
This is usually caused by video signals overdriving circuits. Too much video causes what you are describing. This is sometimes caused by a bad cable or connection, either a TV cable or a video cable. Hopefully it's not a projector problem. If you can check the connections from your receivers and VCR with the projector on you might be able to pin point the problem. Be gentle and if there is adoubt about a cable, just replace it.
