Noise from hitachi 42PD5000

A noise started last night from the back of the panel, sounds like a loud cricket chirping. doesn't affect the performance but is very annoying due to the how loud the noise is. Any ideas what this is? A fan of some sort? No chirping sound if the screen is a solid colour like with a screen saver on. I have a panasonic 42" Plasma. It makes a "chirping" noise. The noise is coming from the right side of the Rear of the television, when looking at the rear of the TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had the TV since Nov. '08, so about 5 months.

Thanks!

The noise is coming from one of the plasma driver boards. There are 2 inside the set. These are essentially power supplies for the plasma itself and contain many capacitors. The noise you hear is some oscillation inside a cap or two. This is an indication that one or more components have drifted from their rated value. While the set will continue to work for a while, that board should be replaced. If the board fails, 1/2 of the picture will be blank or the set will not start at all. Call around to get the cost of that board. Please note that continued use of the set WILL NOT cause any harm. This is an annoyance only at this point.

Check on the back there should be vents in there should be a fan, if it gets to complicated you would want to have a tech come out a clean it professionally. :)

Sound but no image on Hitachi 42pd5000

Two things need to be checked. The ballast board and the T-con board. Shine a flashlight on the screen with the TV on...If you see a faint picture moving, then the T-Con board is OK. The ballast board for the white backlight is bad. If you don't see a faint picture, then the T-con board is bad. Brother HL5250DN makes loud squeaking noise while printing. Sounds like crickets chirping.

This is not a problem but it can be early signs of the drum and rollers wearing out. When it does die, I suggest buying another printer.

Chirping noise from Freezer and Refrig

Simple fix. Unplug refrigerator, locate fan, wipe clean from collected dirt etc. and spray a little WD-40 on the shaft. Spin the fan. Plug in and voila, chirp is gone.

Permanent fix, replace motor.

No picture, no sound, just chirping noise coming from back

NO - - signal did nothing to the set... Sounds like a shorted HOT (horizontal output transistor) and the feedback your hearing (chirp) is on the horz. transformer as it tries repeatedly to startup... Don't allow it to do that for too long...
