I am having the problem with the refrige not getting cold enough.

I own a Jennair JCD2389 approx 6 years old.We had a service guy come out and quoted us $900.00 repair the refrigerator. (He never pulled the back off the refrig.).

I have defrosted the refrigerator for 24 hours. It is running between 38 and 41 degrees. It is halfway between min and max. THE REFRIGERATOR IS EMPTY.
Question: What temp should it be at. When I get all my food back in will it go up?I am having Christmas for 15 people so the refrigerator will be full. Any suggestions to help me get through the holiday would be great.

What did ne quote for the repair, and if he did not even look at the commpressor or condenser coil then how could he even diagnos this situation? i owuld go ahead and be sure to fill the refrigerator and freezer due to the fact that then it works less. Just keep an eye on it and you should be fine untill either you have a real tech go out there or if Santa's really nice and gets you a new one. m I wpopuld also clean the condenser coil on the bottom with shop vac and a brush. Merry Christmas

Hello...we have a JCD2289AT that is 6 years old approx...frezer and ice maker are working fine butr refrig seems to not hear a cold temerature even after setting to the coldest setting. I pulled the unit...

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Amana ABB2224DES - 5 years old - freezer is not keeping ice cream frozen it is mushy - the freezer setting has been set on 6 for a long time

Check temp. should be around 0. If not check to make sure condensor fan motor is working. Check condensor for lint. Do not put ice cream in door shelfs this is the warmest point in freezer. if has a icemaker, check to see if ice in bucket has a wet look or dry look. Wet is a not cold enough. dry is cold enough. If refrig is cycling of and on and temp is 0 , ice dry... possible bad thermastate/ sensor.

Warm in freezer and refrig

On some Amana refrigs , the defrost thermostat has to close before the fan will come on . The coils will get cold and since the bimetal clips onto the coils , it will get cold as they do . When cold enough , bimetal closes and the fan will come on . Are the coils getting cold ? If so , then the compressor is working . You could also have a bad fan motor instead of bimetal . Recheck to see if you hear the fan in freezer now .
