I have a satellite a305-s6909 and just replaced the motherboard and when i powered it up the display was blank and the screen stayed black?
A couple of crazy ideas:
1. Press the Fn key with the (usually) blue icon that looks like two monitors. That's usually Fn/F5.. That could help if the keys were pressed before and the video was redirected to an external monitor.
2. The ribbon cable from the motherboard to the monitor came loose, or wasn't inserted during the replacement.

Your problem could be a backlight problem, it is caused by either a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instruction to determine the fault and possible fix :-
