What kind of antifreeze do I use for my 1999 Saturn

Well, a 50-50 solution of any good green AF is okay, unless you have the dex-cool, orange colored, GM brand type of AF... If you have that, you want to use orange again. You cannot mix dex-cool with regular green AF (like Prestone or any brand AF that is green colored). A lot of people don't like using dex-cool so they change to regular AF. But to do so, you need to flush out every trace of the dex-cool. If they get mixed, problems like sludge in the coolant may result.

Wavy picture at bottom half of screen looks like two different colors, top half convergence looks good bottom half of pictute looksbad . Can it be vertical coil on two piture tubes not being drivendue to...

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

My Akai 50 inch DLP cuts on and after a few minutes the piture goes out and the power button in the front flashes the word Lamp. How do I repair it?

Unplug the set from the wall. There is a Lamp Door in the rear or on the side of the set. Remove the door and you will see a Lamp Module with two screws on each side. Loosen the two screws and grab the handle while wiggeling the Lamp and pull straight out. Warning!!! DO NOT TOUCH THE FRONT GLASS AT ALL!!! If you see shattered glass inside then you have a bad lamp. There might be a Lamp part number on the Lamp. If not then look on the left side of the set for a orange Lamp Code sticker. Record that Lamp code and purchase a lamp. Once you have the new lamp reinstall in a reverse order. Be sure to reinstall the Lamp Door and tighten the screws or else the set will not work. You should be good to go.

Too much green on Sony KDS-R50XBR1

I have the same model and mine did the same thing last year. Initially had the "green blob" problem, but then it seemed like overnight, an overpowering green push that I could not correct with the full range of white balance controls. Turned out to be the dreaded bad optical block. The OB's are a known problem with this set and its 60" sibling, and the basis of a class action lawsuit against Sony. Under the settlement of the lawsuit, Sony has extended the warranty only for the optical block until June 2009. You can find out more than you wanted to know about it on the AV Science Forum at avsforum.com and they have a link to Sony's web page for this problem. BTW, after my optical block replacement (at no cost), my set has a very faint pinkish to greenish color impurity which fades to nearly imperceptibile after warmup. It hasn't gotten worse over the past year and it doesn't bother me enough to risk having it replaced with another OB which could be worse. Bottom line: it sounds like you need and optical block replacement, which Sony is having done in-home at no cost to you.

Having problem with getting the color and contrast right?

Good Day;
Turn your color down all the way, do you get a good Black and White picture with good black, white and grays? If not your picture tube may be going bad. It can be adjusted sometimes to get a 'better' picture.
If picture is a good B&W; adjust britness level: 50% > contast: > 90/95 % >color: 50%.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Blue and Yellow shadows

Google "HItachi Convergence Circuit" and you will see that it is a very common problem. Looks like TV repair guys get $400 to fix it. The parts will set you back $15-$50 but there is some complicated soldering to do.

I am going to repair my own...but I have a lot of experience in soldering

UNABLE TO BRIGHTEN PICTURE

Your CRT coolant needs to be changed. Thats whats giving you the dim picture. You can also clean the projection mirror on the inside this often helps. But the coolant will need to be changed to get back the bright crisp picture. Hope this helps.

Major blurring/sharpness problem with Pentax Optio 50; help!

Thanks for posting the photos.....they tell a lot. You need to return that camera and get a refund. The camera is defective. The first two photos were taken under good lighting conditions and you should have gotten good shots. The last two were taken at low light and the camera was using 1/30th of a second shutter speeds which could account for some blurring due to camera movement. The last one appeared to be a flash shot and it selected 1/30th second. Not a good thing for the camera to do. But all photos have the appearance that you are shooting through a fog. And all photos were shot with an ISO setting of 200. There is something wrong with this camera for that to happen on the first two shots. I checked the EXIF data that is embedded in the photos. That gives you the shutter speed, aperture setting and focal length, ISO settings, and other information. I have not seen a review of the Pentax Optio 50. But the older S50 did not get good reviews. If I were you, I would look for a different brand of camera. For a few dollars more you can get a Nikon 5600.
