If you are subscribing to cable or satellite TV, then the answer is no; they will continue to send an analog signal to your TV. However if you are using an antenna to receive your broadcast, then you will need a converter. Broadcast TV (over the air) has switched to a digital signal for most of the channels as of June 12th.
On Remote, hold the Q.V. button down and press the number 9. That will bypass the lock
Then press the menu button on the remote - go to Advanced features, select Parental Lock - it should sho as on, hold the Q.V. button doown and press the 9 button again, and you will turn the lock off
