This is brand new, just got it. Just barely started doing anything to the laptop. I installed the pinball CD it came with and for some reason when i go to click on "safely remove hardware" and it says okay, then the CD holder will not come open. First, from your cmos settings setup your computer to boot from the cd rom drive. Then put in your windows cd or your recovery cd for your computer in your cd rom, reboot your computer. Follow the instructions on your screen and make sure to install your drivers when you're done. Good Luck.
the cd rom is probably gonna die on it. My friend has an acer she got for christmas and the cd rom died. It is to new to be messing up on you like that call acer have them repair it
If you have not done so, under device manager, remove the dvd rom (cd-rom) from the hardware list, Use the CD install disk that come with your DVD-ROM, install the drivers and software, then reboot your pc and let it install the new hardware detected. This should get you going.
try this, go to reg edit and then go here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} then delete upper and lower filters then reboot the computer, hope this helps
