Does the vehicle have an aftermarket alarm system? Is the valet switch for this what you are looking for? If so, it depends entirely on who installed it as where they have put it, although it's usually under the dash on the drivers side. Some alarms have different sequences that you have to go through to put the alarm into valet mode, it's not usually just a switch that you flick. Best to pop into an alarm or stereo installer and see if they can spot it for you, or if the car is immobilised, find out what sort of alarm it is and call an installer for the info on the valet procedure.
Hopefully i haven't just wasted my time and yours, but i can't think of any other type of valet switch, and your description was pretty minimal. Cheers, Mark.

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid. The alarm never worked on it. We bought it used and all of a sudden when we go to unlock the door it turns on. Now the car won't start. I've looked online for answers and...

The 2000 Dodge Intrepid is equipped with an alarm system that is triggered when unauthorized entry is attempted. In some situations, such as having the Intrepid valet parked or when it is being serviced by a mechanic, the alarm system needs to be disarmed so it doesn't go off. Disarming the alarm will prevent it from being activated until it is armed again.
Difficulty: Moderate Instructions

  1. 1 Insert the key into the ignition.
  2. 2 Turn the ignition switch to "ON." Do not start the engine.
  3. 3 Press and hold the valet/override button within five seconds of turning the ignition on. The valet button is located beneath the steering column.
  4. 4 Release the valet/override button after the security indicator light turns off.
  5. 5 Turn the ignition switch off.

have to do it in this order

2001 Olds Aurora: Neither the buttons on the door nor the remote open the gas tank and trunk anymore. Where can I locate the "fuse/circuit" box so I can determine if this could be causing the problem?

The "problem" was caused by the "valet" switch (actually a pretty cool option). I read the owner's manual - there is a valet toggle switch located in the glove compartment. As instructed, I turned the valet switch option from "ON" to "OFF".....everything started working properly (including the remote garage door opener - which I forgot to mention also was not working). Simple, easy fix didn't cost one dime! Pays to read the owner's manual and any signs in the vehicle. The information is posted right on the switch panel!

How do i turn off alarm temporarily(valet feature)?

First you have to know where the valet switch is located. When you locate the switch turn ignition to on position ans flip the switch. the led light for the alarm should stay on STEADY (with out flashing).
