My mini will only work if it is plugged in and if you bump the cord it completely turns itself off. It seems it is not charging the battery while plugged in?

I have purchased another power cord but this has not helped the problem. As long as the computer is plugged in i can use it but if you bump the power cord or knock it lose the computer completely turns off. It is not actually charging my battery.

SOURCE: Dell latitude D600 battery charge light flashing

You have a ground fault issue in the DC JACK.

There are escentially 4 circuits in the jack and one is not making contact.

1: Negative Charge circuit (outter ring)
2: Negative Run circuit (outter ring)
3 Positive (Inner Ring)
4: Signal (center pin)

I believe the negative charge circuit (outter ring) is not making contact internally. Typically what happens on that model DC Jack is the tension contact metal becomes fatigued, and does not touch the outter ring.

This could come from Heat causing early fatigue of the metal.
Or normal wear, the metal has simply worn out from regular insert/removal.

SOURCE: Battery won't charge on my Inspiron E1505

The battery problem could be due to a bad ac adapter or a loose motherboard connector. Try another good known Ac adapter and see if it works. For the partation issue in XP do a right click on MY computer and go to MANAGE and a computer management screen will open. Under computer management go to disk management. Chech for any unallocated space. If you find any unallocated space you can do a right click and create a new partation. You wont loose any data in this.

SOURCE: Laptop Battery won't charge

One thing you can check is the battery contacts on the laptop. You'll notice small metal contact points where you install the battery. clean those and make sure they are 100% dust free. IF there is any kind of dust build up or corrosion on the contact points they will not work correctly.

Also check for any physical damage to the contacts.
Please rate as "very helpful" if this helps your situation & i'd love feedback. ^_^

not necessarily, try removing the batter. faulty batteries can tell the computer to shut down when powered.

HP Mini 2140 "Plugged in, charging" but not charging

Hello jorel, most likely its a failure of the system board particularly the charging section, a broken pin or a loose terminal. work will be internal, suggest you do away with the battery. its better to operate it at home, or bring the charger with you. Maybe its time to get a new one.

Battery won't charge

So put the old power cord back on since you say it charged the battery normally. Why did you change it if it was charging the battery? It's quite possible that the new power cord is faulty. Just because it is new does not mean it works.

Remove the battery and plug the new power cord in. Does it boot the laptop up? Are you able to function with the new power cord plugged in. If so, then your battery is more than likely dead and needs to be replaced. The battery only has a useful life and once it is completely bad it will not charge.

My HP mini 210 does not turn on. The power light is off. Might the battery be bad?

If it does not turn on with the power supply plugged in then its more serious than your battery as laptops do not need the battery in when the power is in.
you may have a fulty power socket or even worse a faulty motherboard.
they can be repaired but it is usualy a technicians work.

This could indicate a bad battery. Try removing the battery and powering on the laptop. If the power LED remains white then you have a problem with the charging circuit. That means your battery could be defective or the battery charging circuit on your motherboard is faulty.

My laptop will operate as long as the charger is plugged in. However, it does not charge the battery when not in use. what could be the problem

Hello

OK, this can be due to a couple of things, let me start explaining:

Firstly, the battery:

Take you battery to your nearest computer repair store and let them test if your battery does indeed take up a charge. If the battery does not work, you know where the problem is.

Battery contacts:

If the battery does indeed work, you can have a look at the compartment you plug the battery in. Have a good look at the contact point between the battery and the laptop itself. See if they make the sufficient contact needed to power the laptop via the battery. A good idea is to clean the contact points while the battery is removed. Clean the points on both the battery and the laptop.

Power cord:

Now, i know this one might seem a bit far fetched, but, it is actually one of the most common reasons. If the computer only works if the power cord is plugged in it might be the cord itself causing this problem. Although the laptop gets the power from the cord, the battery does not get the sufficient power to charge. Try charging the battery with another cord.

If you need any further assistance, or have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Kind regards

My TOSHIBA MINI NB205-n313/9 10.1 inch net book will not turn on

Hi,
The laptop is not turning on?

Remove the battery and try boot the machine on AC power only. If the computer starts up turn it back off, reinsert the battery and try to boot the computer again.
If it still won't boot with the battery inserted then i suggest you send or take the computer back as there is a hardware problem.

When I plug it in to charge the player, it says "docked" as usual, but then it turns itself off and acts like I've disconnected it. It says "Low Battery" and shuts down.

The zen need a full charge... if you have an ac adapter plug it in for at least eight hours. if you don't have an ac adapter plug it in via USB to a DESKTOP computer (not laptop) and try to use a differnt usb cord (creative doesn't always include a powerful enough cord to get the zen out of that low power state)

refer to creative.com/support and look up info on your model to see if anyone else has your issue
