I keep getting ''carriage jam clear carriage jam'' message but I have no idea what to do other thatn push the carriage back and forth to see that is is freely moving.
it says photosmart c4385 all in one on it but I had to use the name you guys like.
your little list doesn't have mine on it so it kept asking me for "valid product"
I entered it as the first photosmart printer on your incomplete list.
So sorry to hear that you are having issues with your C4385 printer. HP's
All-In-One printers seem to be very touchy when it comes to carriage
jams, and mine is no exception. They are usually caused by little bits
of paper left over from a previous jam, so you just have to work out
where to find them. HP produced a page with diagrams to help people
find them. Please click here to access their solution page.
Hope this helps!
Sometimes the carriage shaft is dry (silver bar that the ink cartrdge holder runs on). Clean and Lubricate the shaft with very thin oil
let me know how it went

Hi,
There are a number of things that can cause a carriage jam.
To prevent
it from recurring, one should keep in mind a number of things.
Always
ensure that the paper tray is not overloaded as this might result in the
paper being stuck inside.
Also the paper being used should be as per
the manufacturer's recommendations.
Turn off the printer when removing
bits of paper. If there is a broken gear, do not repair it yourself.
Call an expert technician to mend it.
