Cannot connect wirelessly, but can through my network cable

I connected my DI-524d to my computer last night and set-up my desktop then went to install on my laptop and connected just fine through a network cable. It was when I disconnected the network cable from my laptop to go wireless that it just stayed in a continuous loop trying to acquire network address. Anyone know of settings I would need to change to get connected?

After a few tries and re starts it may connect itself, but if not go to Start>Run, then type 'ipconfig /flushdns'. Try connecting again, but ensure your wireless card is set to obtain IP address automatically and you have enabled wireless connection and DHCP in your routers menu. Hope this helps

I am trying to connect my new router to my laptop, but the instructions say i should connect my pc to the internet by connecting my ethernet cable to the router.my problem is i have only one connection and...

Modem <-- Ethernet cable --> WAN port on router

LAN port #1 on router <--- Ethernet cable --> network-port on desktop computer

LAN port #2 on router <-- Ethernet cable --> network-port on laptop computer

If the router has built-in "wireless" capability, then use the desktop computer's connection to the router to "configure" the wireless adapter, i.e., pick an SSID, and establish a password, and then your laptop computer can use the SSID/password to connect "wirelessly" to the router.

I have di-524 d-link wireless router, my router not giving me wireless connections

If you connect the computer to the router with the cable , does it work?
If yes then the wired connection is working.

What is the Operating system on the laptop or the wireless computer ?

If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router

Start with the simplest answer first so make sure the laptop's WiFi is turned on. If you have set the router to provide a closed network your laptop will not see it automatically and you will need to enter the WiFi network settings in network setup. if you are using Windows click start, click control panel and click network, on the left hand sidebar you will see "Setup a Small or Home Office Network", follow the wizard and you should be able to get connected. If you are using Mac OS X click the Airport icon on your menu bar, click "other network" and enter the SSID, select the encryption type and enter the network key (password). Lastly make sure that if you have chosen to use an access control list you have entered and allowed your laptop's MAC address in the list before trying to connect.

DI-524 One wireless connection makes others not ok

This is unusual, as it seems the router is allocating two pc's the same IP address. Go into your routers settings (internet browser and type the router address, eg 192.168.1.1)' and look at Client DHCP list and look at the IP addresses that each pc has been given and see if two are the same, they should be one digit difference, that being the last. Also go into the properties of both your pc's wireless cards and ensure that they are set to obtain an ip address automatically.
