This is caused by options selected in your power management. if your using xp you will right click inside an open space on your desktop click settings and from there you can view your power settings and change them to better suit your needs.

Hp550 computer not going to sleep mode properly

No matter which model of HP laptop you own, battery life is a big issue. Hibernation mode is designed to increase the battery life of your HP laptop by switching off the monitor, hard drive and other parts of the unit after they have been idle for a specific period of time. While hibernation mode works well most of the time, in some cases, your HP laptop may not wake from hibernation the way it should.

Docking Station Issues Many hibernation problems are caused not by the HP laptop itself but by the docking station to which it is attached. Some models of docking station interfere with the normal operation of the hibernation on the HP laptop. The easiest way to test this is to remove the laptop from the docking station and allow it to sit until hibernation begins. If hibernation mode works with the laptop undocked but not while docked, you know the problem lies with the docking station instead of the HP laptop. b> Remote Desktop Issues If you need to connect to your HP laptop from elsewhere, it is helpful to reset the power settings to the Always On mode before you leave your home or office. Many models of HP laptops do not wake properly from hibernation when users connect to them remotely using the remote desktop feature of Windows. When users connect with remote desktop, the program sends a signal to the remote computer that should wake it from hibernation and allow it to function normally. However, this process does not always work as intended with HP computers, so it helps to change the power settings to allow a seamless connection. Video Drivers Problems with HP laptop hibernation also can be caused by a corrupt or outdated video drive. HP laptops come with built-in video processors, and the drivers they use are installed during the initial setup of the unit. If there is a problem with that driver, HP releases an update, so if you see problems with hibernation, your first step should be to check for an updated video driver. b> External Keyboard and Mouse Sometimes the HP laptop does not respond properly and does not wake from hibernation when you use the built-in keyboard and touchpad mouse. The sensitivity of HP touchpads varies from model to model, and that sensitivity can be reduced over time. You can test for this problem by attaching an external keyboard and mouse to the laptop to determine whether that resolves the problem.

HP ProBook 4530s stuck in hibernation

Go into power options, select hibernate on top, uncheck box on left and press ok or apply. This will disable hibernate mode, not only does use alot of disc space but causes windows to corrupt files and eventually will not start windows, one of microsoft worse idea's.

When I take my laptop out of hibernation mode, it automatically (almost 95% of the time) goes to a blue screen with very tiny lettering and then re-boots itself. After the re-boot, things seem to be ok.

It's crashing when you take it out of hibernation. Try not to use hibernation mode, in my experience it's more trouble than it's worth , especially with laptops. Also do a search for problems relating to hibernation on your laptop (ie your make and model), there should be a solution out there somewhere, and try the support section of the manufacturers website.

My HP's screen goes black

When your computer reboots, go to the control panel > power options > go to the hibernate tab and turn off hibernation. Then go to the power settings and make sure to change the setting for closing the lid to "do nothing" then change the other settings such as when the computer sleeps if inactive to 30 minutes to an hour. Hibernation is causing the most problems I see with random shutdown etc. One other thing it might be also is overheating of the processor, make sure to get some compressed air and blow out the heatsink vents and grills on the base of the laptop. If these are insuccessful, there maybe the possibility that you have a Malware bug. Go here http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

download and run this and perfrom a quick scan, when it is finished, show results and delete anything it finds.

Blank screen

Turn Hibernate off for one thing. Hibernation leads to registry problems and boot issues. Go to control panel > power options > hibernate tab > uncheck the box. Reboot the machine. If you want, the laptop will go into standby mode after a period of time and will wake up with a touch on the touchpad. Go back to power options and there are settings in there that you can tailor to your liking.

My hp laptop is automatically turn off

More info would help, does it just shut off, are you doing anything when it does this.

my guess with what info you gave,

1. the computer goes into "Sleep Mode" when not used after time.

2. Computer goes into "Power Save Mode"

3 Computer goes into "Hibernation"

all of which may seem like your computer shuts off
