Since this set like all others with the "child lock" require a code to be entered and the remote is what is used, I would say it cannot be done without the correct remote and the password.
Child Lock The control buttons on the front of the unit can be switched off so that your unit can only be operated using the remote control. 1Press C.LOCK. and SAFE will appear in the display window. None of the buttons on the front of your unit will work. If any buttons on the front of your unit are pressed SAFE will flicker in the display window for a few seconds. 2Press C.LOCK again to switch off the child lock. OFF will appear in the display window. Note – C.LOCK is not available on the DVD mode.
I had the same problem. Turned out the Child Lock was on. Push the Child Lock button on the remote (it's below the 0 key) and that should fix the problem.
my AKAI tv is locked. All i see is a blus screen with a little red lock on the bottom left corner! the only button that works on the tv OR remote is the power button on the remote. PLEASE HELP i have tried pushing every button but nothing happens
Hi Juzzy I fixed my unit with a universal remote ( can buy them at electrical store) or borrow a friends key in 0061 (this worked on my VH-605 ) on the new remote and hit play and away you go !!
