SOURCE: how to check ink level on hp officejet 6210 all-in-one printer

  • Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:
    • Click Start and select HP Solution Center . Select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox .
    • In your printing application, click File , click Print , and click Properties . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon.
  • The Printer Toolbox opens. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. A cartridge may be running out of ink even if the graphic shows ink remaining (see the note at the start of this section). Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.

SOURCE: How to check ink level for a hp 1210 printer /vista

    1. Check the back of your computer to make sure that the printer is appropriately connected to the computer and is plugged in. If the printer is not plugged into the computer, find the printer jack on the back of the computer and plug it in before you move on to the next step.
    2. Step 2 Click on the "Start" menu button which is located on bottom left hand corner of your screen. Click on the "Settings" bar and notice that a list of functions pop up to the left of the settings button. Click on the control panel icon.
    3. Step 3 Look for the printer/fax icon in the control panel window. Double click on the printer icon.
    4. Step 4 Find the icon for your printer in the opened window and right click on the icon. Now click on the "Preferences" option.
    5. Step 5 Look for the menu box pop up with tabs near the top of the box. Click on the "Services" tab.
    6. Step 6 Click on "Service this device." You will find the button on the Services menu that you just activated.
    7. Step 7 Click on the estimated ink level tab and a graphic will appear indicating how much ink is left in the cartridge.

How do i find ink levels in Windows 8 for HP Office Jet J4580

It depends on what type of ink cartridge you have installed.....with HP genuine ink cartridges and HP Solution center installed, everything should be there. However, if you get an HP integrated ink cartridge refilled (i.e. HP 60, 61, 74, 75, 901, 92-98....currently offered at Costco or Frys today) or if you buy a remanufactured/compatible HP ink cartridge, the ink levels will not be displayed nor can they be reset (HP has a smart chip embedded within the nozzle plate at base of ink cartridge which counts the drops and then registers as empty).....so you'll just need to live with it and ignore 'ink low', 'non-genuine', 'counterfeit' messages and similar while you are using these types of aftermarket supplies. The first video below provides an overview of the 'low ink' phenomena.

NOTE: These types of 'SEVERE' cartridge errors (i.e. "refer to documentation" / "incompatible cartridges", "print cartridge(s) problem" etc.) typically indicates the internal micro-electronics of the HP #901 / 901XL cartridge are damaged. The cartridge's electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal electrical failure. I suggest you first run a 'Tap 41' diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced test); you may also bypass the error (temporarily) on all models which use HP 901 cartridges. Reset 4500 hp estimated inklevel

The best you can do is, Disconnect the power cord from back of printer ( while printer is on ) and reconnect after 30 seconds.

This should help you in displaying ink level on printer front panel and also from solution Center on your pc ( if the complete software is installed )

Basic software installation or just connected to PC will not display ink level on your PC Screen
