When the error message popped up on my computer there was an option for tech support. I clicked on that. I went to the HP website. then found my way to tech support. I clicked on what printer I had and it set me up with a chat session.
The person helped me and it is now fixed.
I pressed Setup then 6 then okay
then after that was done I pressed setup then 6 then 2 and okay

only wy to check levels is to install the software that is part of the printer it will give you ink levels as they go down
It depends on what type of ink cartridge you have installed.....with HP genuine ink cartridges and HP Solution center installed, everything should be there. However, if you get an HP
integrated ink cartridge refilled (i.e. HP 60, 61, 74, 75, 901,
92-98....currently offered at Costco or Frys today) or if you buy a
remanufactured/compatible HP ink cartridge, the ink levels will not be displayed nor can they be reset (HP
has a smart chip embedded within the nozzle plate at base of ink cartridge
which counts the drops and then registers as empty).....so you'll just need to
live with it and ignore 'ink low', 'non-genuine', 'counterfeit' messages and
similar while you are using these types of aftermarket supplies. The first
video below provides an overview of the 'low ink' phenomena.
NOTE: These types of 'SEVERE' cartridge errors (i.e. "refer to documentation" / "incompatible cartridges", "print
cartridge(s) problem" etc.) typically indicates the internal micro-electronics
of the HP #901 / 901XL cartridge are damaged. The cartridge's electrical wire
runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge are very delicate and are somewhat
susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In
addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal
electrical failure. I suggest you first run a 'Tap 41' diagnostic test to
check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced test); you may also bypass
the error (temporarily) on all models which use HP 901 cartridges. Refer to
