Same problem, Used Radio Shack remote 15-100. Program remote. (search through codes to shut off tv). Then live tv button brings up p-i-p, then zero, zero activates video mode, and then swap on remote.

your going to have to get a mid priced universal with extended features. read the packaging. thrift stores sometimes have a bag wall with old remotes so if you have someone who goes to the thrift store sometimes tell them to start looking for either a vcr or tv remote that says emerson on it for you. directv and dish network universals have video input buttons, if you have eith of those providers go to their website, download or find the chapter where it shows how to set up your viseo input. it is shut off by default..

It won't let you switch to video/game mode?
If it's a universal remote, it may just be that the button is actually called TV/VCR instead of AV or input.
If it's the actual remote for the TV, then perhaps the button itself is no longer working (usually from repeated pressing or excessive pressure/twisting). Either that, or the digital circuit that controls the switch between inputs is no longer working.
Try accessing your TV's menu with the controls along the front or on the remote. Most TVs will let you switch through those menus.
I had the same problem when I got the TV from someone and I didnt have a remote. I went out and got a ONE FOR ALL remote and once I got it set up I had it in VCR mode and hit the AV button and now I can get to the channels. Hope it works for you.
The code for the TV is 0623 but to use the TV/VCR button to change mode from line to TV the code is one of the following 0179, 0451, 0463, 0624 or 0278. The 0623 only activates the menu but doesn´t let you change Air/Cable mode without first changing the Line/TV mode by pressing the TV/VCR or Line input button on your universalk remote with one of the other codes.
i have the same set i used a rca universal remote rcr311w i think its the oem one i bought two of them at walmart i don,t know if they still carry them
