Hello
Firstly, what operating system are you using? I am going to give you steps to fix this in both xp and vista.
Windows XP:
- Right click any blank area of your desktop. In the menu that comes up, click on “Properties.”
-
Step 2
Click on the “Desktop” tab, and then click on the “Customize Desktop” button.
-
Step 3
On
the “General” tab, you will see a field with some standard desktop
icons. Click on the “recycle bin” icon and then click on “Restore
Default.” Click “OK,” and then “Apply,” and finally “OK” again. You
should see your recycle bin back in its spot on your desktop. If your
recycle bin is still not appearing on your desktop, try the next steps.
-
Step 4
Right click a blank area of your task bar, point to “Toolbars,” and then click on “Desktop.”
-
Step 5
Click on the double carets (>>) next to “Desktop” on your taskbar. Look for your recycle bin in the menu that comes up.
-
Step 6
Drag
the recycle bin from the menu to your desktop by clicking on it with
your mouse, holding the mouse button down, and moving it to the desktop.
Windows Vista:
First, right-click on the
Desktop and select
Personalize. In the dialog box on the right hand side, there should be an option called
Change desktop icons.
On the Change desktop icons dialog box, go ahead and check the
Recycle Bin box to add that back to your desktop. You’ll notice that there is a Full Recycle Bin and Empty Recycle Bin icon.
If you click Apply, your icon should now be back on the
desktop.
Really hope this can be of help.
Kind regards
Andrea
