Hello Donald Lieberman,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

To answer your question: This problem normally points back to cleaning the contacts on the haed where the cartridges are loaded in. If you take a #2 pencil and wipe these contacts down, before re-inserting the cartridges, it may start working again. If not, I recommend replacing the printer. It is cheaper to replace this printer, and have the extra ink cartridges for it, than to repair it.

Have a great day!

Print cartridge installed incorretly

Its not reading the cartridge. There's no way around it, you have to buy a new cartridge. It happens. Especially when you refill cartridges.

I put new print cartridges in my 960c printer. They are hp 78 for color and 45 for black and white. my orange ink light will not stop blinking. It is not printing

I have an HP DeskJet 1220C that has been working fine for two years now. All of a sudden it can only print in pink and black. It is driving me crazy. I have tried the following without any success:

1. Replaced the cartridges twice
2. Aligned and cleaned the cartridge from the
computer
3. Soaked the cartridge head in hot water,
and made sure that all three colors will bleed
out of the head
4. Cleaned the cartridge contacts with an eraser
5. Cleaned the cartridge contacts on the printer
with a brush

Is there a cure, or is it time for a new printer?

My printer lights ( all three) are blinking with error message of "cartridge problem" I have tried to replace the cartridge with no success and cleaning the cartridge but no luck. Please help.

In this case you will need two new cartridges to identify the problem.
Take one new color cartridge and one black. Now, remove both the old cartridges and install the new ones and restart the printer.
Most probably your issue should be resolved.
Please ensure that you are using the following cartridges only.
Print cartridge information Part name Part description Product number Print cartridge Black HP No. 15 (equivalent to HP C6615 series) Print cartridge Tri-color HP No. 78 (equivalent to C6578 series)

Whenever I print color, entire page comes out blue. I have replaced the cyan cartridge (twice) and the Laser Transfer Kit. Sometimes there are thick blue streaks in addition to the overall blue color. What...

Run the "disable cartridge check"
It will be in the Diagnostics.
Once you start the test, you can remove all the cartridges. Put the cyan in the black cartridge slot.
print a config page. If it is all blue, you have another bad cartridge. If it prints correctly(minus the other colors)...continue
Now put the magenta in the cyan cartridge slot. Print the config page again. If you have red all over the page, you have a problem with the slot itself.
Press the STOP button and then select EXIT diagnostics. Put the cartridges back where they all go and run CALIBRATION more than once.
Select/menus/down arrow/configure devce/select configure device
Down arrow/print quality/seect print quality
Down arrow/ calibrate now. Select it and wait.

"Remove and Check Color Cartridge" won't go away w/ new cartridge

Replaced with brand new HP cartridges. If either one (black or color) is a refilled cartridge, my machine has issues.
